Do You Suffer From

Imposter Syndrome?

Do you have secret self-doubts?

Even the most brilliant team members may be

doubting their own brilliance.

Despite a long list of accomplishments, many people feel unqualified for their job. They second guess their work and have doubts they belong in the position they have already earned. They look accomplished, but they feel like frauds and their internal voice screams "you are not good enough!".

Maureen Zappala was a NASA engineer who became the first female facility manager of the PSL Complex in Cleveland, OH. Read her story here.

2023 Chamber Annual Dinner Recap

What a fun night at the Chamber Annual Dinner!

A night filled with great food, great friends, a great speaker, and a little bit of Chamber business. We appreciate all who attended and thank our major sponsors, Nebo Comfort, ERA Brokers Consolidated, and Clarion Gardens for helping make this event possible.

Because of your generosity, we raised $343.00 for our Payson High School Scholarship Fund. We appreciate all of our other sponsors for donating gift cards and gift baskets which rewarded many participants with nice gifts to take home.

Our keynote speaker, Marco Lopez, asked us to ponder what we REALLY want and to go after it. "You don’t want your mind to be busy. You want it to be like a very still and calm lake." "If you keep your mind still and calm, you get a TREMENDOUS benefit." To gain this calmness, he encouraged us to focus on GRATITUDE and avoid DISSATIFACTION. "Gratitude brings us into harmony with the unseen forces behind all our success." "The more comfortable you become with uncertainty, the better you will be as an entrepreneur."

The Mission of the Payson & Santaquin Area Chamber of Commerce is to

strengthen the local economy by unifying and providing our members with

training and resources to improve business practices.

We are excited about the future of the Chamber and look forward to serving you as we unite and serve each other to make our community the best place to work and live in Utah!

- -LEGISLATION NEWS- -

The 2023 General Legislative Session is well underway. The Utah Legislature convened the 65th session on January 17th and will work hard for 45 days to appropriate funding and legislate.

Those interested can follow along online at le.utah.gov.

The Utah House Majority Caucus released their 2023 policy priorities, entitled The Utah Way Together. The House is working to advance policies around the following pillars:

1. Stewardship: of water, energy, and land management

2. Affordability: of housing, government services, and taxes

3. Investment: in transportation and education

Because water is top of mind for our lawmakers and businesses alike, we are actively watching the following proposals related to water and water conservation.

TURF BUYBACK

  • Representative Doug Owens will file a bill to increase incentives for "turf buyback" programs in Utah. With a $12 million appropriation, the goal will be to offer as much as $2 a square foot to get rid of what is called "nonfunctional turf," or lawn that is largely ornamental and serves no real use. This bill would also continue to place restrictions on nonfunctional turf in any new construction projects.

COORDINATED GROWTH & CONSERVATION PLANNING

  • Senator Scott Sandall introduced SB 076, Water Amendments, which initiates a regional planning committee that will coordinate the efforts of the Division of Water Resources on water conservation, water transportation, and land use elements to promote water preservation. This planning process will consider feedback from regional jurisdictions to evaluate long-term water plans and infrastructure needs and prioritize those needs.

AGRICULTURE WATER OPTIMIZATION GRANT

  • Lawmakers are looking at incentivizing agriculture users to invest in water efficiencies with suggested funding of $200M on-time and $25M ongoing. The Agricultural Water Optimization program has been in place since 2019 and brought about significant successes in optimizing agricultural water use, saving over 7 billion gallons of water in the first year of data collection. This program has also seen increasing interest and support from the agriculture community. $70 million in grants were administered in 2022 alone and funded over 300 projects.

WATER REUSE GRANTS

  • There has been a requested $75M one-time competitive grant program for wastewater reuse projects with priority for projects that mitigate the impacts of drought in rural communities and the agricultural sector.

Submit a Short Video of Your Business

Video can help your business reach new audiences and attract new viewers to your social media pages and website, which is likely why "increase brand awareness" is the number one reason brands use video.

Video content is unique in that not only does it tell your brand’s story, but it shows it. Creating fun, lively video content will better show the personality of your brand, and is likely to be viewed, liked and shared.

To help promote your businesses we are looking to put your self-created videos on our Face Book page. Create a 30 - 60 second commercial or tour of your business and let us help tell your story! Send to [email protected]
