3rd Grade: Love One Another

Third grade has been studying what it means to "Love One Another" as first commanded by Jesus at the Last Supper he had with his disciples. While the students were familiar with this command, they were surprised to learn that Jesus gave it before his betrayal, trial, and crucifixion. Students created a heart weaving project with a heart and yarn and wrote their thoughts as a reminder of what true love looks like. Such a wonderful way to wrap up our Valentine's celebration.

Poverty Problem Solvers Leadership Program

I am thrilled to share with you an exciting vision, a transformative initiative that could shape the educational experience for our elementary and middle school students, as well as Christian schools nationwide.

As we delve into the new year, our school is exploring a collaboration with Convoy of Hope to integrate Bloom's Taxonomy, a framework for critical thinking skills, into our school chapels. The focus is on cultivating our students as "poverty problem solvers," aligning with Convoy's commitment to empower communities through sustainable solutions.

Poverty Problem Solvers Leadership Program

Update:

Mr. Swales met with a national publisher and proposed a curriculum for all Christian schools. His model focuses on two valuable principles, leadership and problem solving. Mr. Swales also met with a group of elementary students to discuss the Poverty Problem Solvers Leadership Program. Students will be trained through critical thinking exercises, problem-solving scenarios, debates, research projects, mock interviews, public speaking opportunities, and networking events. Students will enhance their mental acuity and communication skills to advocate for sustainable solutions and inspire change.

In the meantime, Mr. Swales will wait for a response from the president and primary authors of a renowned national Christian publisher to integrate the Poverty Problem Solvers Curriculum into their Teacher Edition's educational framework. This partnership is geared towards expanding the reach beyond our school, intending to impact Christian schools nationwide by 2030, and beyond. The objective is to assist teachers in cultivating critical thinking skills among students, fostering problem-solving awareness, and instilling valuable leadership principles.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Who's Ready for Playoffs?

The competition on the basketball court is only getting hotter, especially in our Middle School Boys Basketball Playoffs. With each game, the intensity rises, and the stakes become even higher as teams play for the coveted championship title.

Our boys finished the season ranked #2 with a record of 9-1! Our first playoff game will be a home game facing off against rival school Pilibos. The date and time will be announced soon. The game will be very intense and we will need all the support we can get. We are asking all our parents, students, and staff to be in attendance wearing white to show support for our boys.

Ultimately, the middle school boys basketball playoffs are more than just a series of games; they're a testament to the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and passion that defines the sport. Win or lose, every player leaves the court with their heads held high, proud of their accomplishments and ready to continue their journey both on and off the hardwood.

We will see you at the game! Go Falcons!

Elementary School Chapel:

Forgiveness

In our elementary chapel, Mr. Swales spoke to the students on forgiveness. Forgiveness helps us have a happy heart and feel free. Just like how God forgives us when we make mistakes, we are called to forgive others who hurt us. Click on the video below to see the full message!

We are excited to introduce you to a world of hands-on learning experiences through our STEM initiatives, fostering the development of crucial skills for your child's future success. Our MimioSTEM solutions are designed to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics engaging and relevant.  We need some parents to pilot the stem resources and give us your feedback.  If you can read the following information and watch any videos of interest, and then complete the survey to gather your interest level and feedback.

Stem initiatives:

  1. Labdisc: Our portable STEM lab with 13 built-in sensors offers an immersive learning experience for general science.

After School Programs

The goal of daycare is to provide a safe, engaging, and structured environment for our students. This structure includes academic support as well as providing the students opportunities to participate in various enrichment programs such as dance, sports, and drama. Our students are divided into groups with one or two supervisors per group. There is a schedule of activities each day that provides the structure needed to keep the students engaged which minimizes behavior and safety issues.

Here are a few friendly reminders of our daycare procedures:

  • Please be sure to check your child out before you leave. If your child is not signed out, you will be charged until 6 PM.
  • Please send snacks with your child if they are staying for daycare. A small snack will be provided at 5 PM for those who stay late.
