Greetings!

November has a way of making us appreciate what we have and share our gratefulness with those around us. At MCHC, we continue to be thankful for the support of our community which allows us to help those in need. Please take a moment to read about what MCHC has been up to this month!
TURKEY TOSS 2018
Each year at Thanksgiving time, MCHC staff come together with community groups and volunteers to host a Turkey Toss at Child Health Services at MCHC.

This year's Turkey Toss, held on November 20th, provided over 300 food baskets to MCHC patients and their families.

Each basket included a turkey, provided by Elliot Health System , and NH Food Bank , or a vegetarian tofurky donated by Tofurky , as well as other Thanksgiving essentials, nonperishable food items and other small items like books for children.
Volunteers and MCHC staff helped prepare and hand out food baskets and turkeys to patients and their families on November 20th.
This annual event would not be possible without the support of local community groups and volunteers who donated their time and resources to ensure families had Thanksgiving meals this year.

Thank you to Derryfield School, the Manchester Child Development Center and Bedford Presbyterian Church for collecting and donating food baskets. Many thanks to the volunteers from the Bedford High School Junior Rotary Club and United Healthcare for packing boxes and distributing baskets to families!

Local law enforcement officials, social workers, early childhood specialists, school officials, and others in Laconia, NH are ready to form a working group to pursue the idea of setting up a program to assist toddlers and children exposed to severe trauma.

About 40 people representing mental health services, child-care providers, faith-based groups, school districts, and volunteers who work with children, attended a program Wednesday to learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences Response Team (ACERT), which has been operating in Manchester for the past 2 and a half years.
A presentation about the Manchester program was given by Lara Quiroga, the director of Strategic Initiatives for Children at the Manchester Community Health Center, and Manchester Police Sgt. Peter Marr, who supervises the Manchester Police Department’s sexual and domestic violence unit.

OPEN ENROLLMENT CELEBRATION AT MCHC
Speakers at the recent Open Enrollment press conference discuss the importance of the Open Enrollment period for the people of New Hampshire.
On November 1st, Manchester Community Health Center welcomed Senator Maggie Hassan, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter and Granite State Progress for a press conference to promote the start of the Affordable Care Act, Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Period.

Open Enrollment runs from November 1st through December 15th. MCHC has certified application counselors to assist people through the marketplace enrollment or renewal process for health insurance.

MCHC held its first Open Enrollment fair on November 8, where certified application counselors answered questions and assisted patients and the public in the health insurance enrollment process.
MCHC will hold a second Open Enrollment fair on December 13th from 4 pm to 7pm at the 145 Hollis Street location. The event is free and open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. MCHC wants to ensure all patients and those who need assistance navigating the health insurance marketplace have somewhere to turn.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIVING TUESDAY SUPPORT
We are so grateful for the outpouring of support for our Giving Tuesday campaign that took place on November 27th.

This year's Giving Tuesday campaign focused on providing prescription glasses to uninsured children and ensuring uninsured patients were able to receive comprehensive eye exams.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised enough money to provide 10 uninsured children with prescription eye glasses and multiple comprehensive eye exams for uninsured patients!
A pediatric patient receives an eye exam from MCPHS Optometry clinical rotation student, Maneh Gevorgyan, at The Eye Care Center at MCHC.
At MCHC, children who cannot afford glasses, receive a free pair of prescription glasses and patients with no insurance have access to eye care. No cost glasses for pediatric patients and no or low-cost eye exams are made possible through grant funding and generous donations from MCHC supporters - people like YOU.

Thank you to everyone who shared, liked, and donated to our Giving Tuesday campaign!

If you didn't have an opportunity to participate in our Giving Tuesday campaign, you can still learn more about the Eye Care Center at MCHC and make a donation online .
HANNAFORD FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT MCHC!
We have been chosen again as a recipient of the Hannaford Helps fresh Cookbook program!

Throughout the month of December we will receive the funds raised by the sale of the Hannaford fresh Cookbook at both Hannaford locations in Bedford.

4 Jenkins Road Bedford, NH
7 Kilton Road Bedford, NH

Every time a fresh Cookbook is purchased at this location, MCHC receives $5!

This is a great opportunity for us and an easy way for you to show your support for Manchester Community Health Center. And remember to spread the word – the more cookbooks sold, the bigger donation to MCHC.
YOUR SUPPORT MAKES IT ALL POSSIBLE!
As always, Manchester Community Health Center relies on the generosity of our community to deliver the excellent care and wraparound services that keep our patients happy and healthy.
