Spotlight on Leadership: Meet The Innovative Mind Behind Varsity

With over 30 years at the forefront of technology and innovation, our CEO is more than the head of company- he’s a changemaker in the world of IT and digital transformation. Patrick Ciccarelli is a visionary technology leader, entrepreneur, and author with over three decades of experience helping organizations harness the power of IT and software innovation. As the Founder and CEO of Varsity Technologies, a leading technology services firm based in San Francisco, Patrick has dedicated his career to advancing solutions for nonprofits, social services agencies, and healthcare organizations.

His journey began in the early 1990s while teaching at a public middle school in San Francisco, where he saw firsthand how access to technology transformed students’ relationship to learning. Inspired by this impact, he launched the Cisco Networking Academy at San Francisco State University—one of the largest technology training institutes of its time—opening doors for students to build lasting careers in Silicon Valley.

Fueled by a love of education and a belief that “technology can be strategic,” Patrick founded Varsity Technologies to help mission-driven organizations achieve greater social impact. Today, he is a recognized expert in cloud services, cybersecurity, AI adoption, and digital transformation, and has authored several respected books on IT infrastructure and Microsoft technologies.

Patrick’s thought leadership bridges the worlds of business and technology, empowering organizations with limited resources to thrive through innovation. He speaks and writes frequently on AI ethics, cybersecurity, and technology governance, and continues to advocate for equitable access to technology in the sectors that matter most to communities.
