Woodring to receive upgrades to aid Vance AFB mission

ENID, Okla. - Vance Air Force Base is set to make more use of Enid Woodring Regional Airport with upgrades to the facility set to begin construction in the coming months. Mike Cooper, military liaison for the city of Enid and Vance Development Authority, said grant money of approximately $7-8 million has been approved for three upgrades to Woodring.

Industry, commerce officials say workforce shortage still a challenge

OKLAHOMA CITY - Workforce shortages continue to hamper existing businesses' operations statewide along with Oklahoma's efforts to recruit new companies, state commerce officials and industry leaders told legislators Tuesday. Industry leaders told lawmakers during an interim study that there aren't enough workers available to meet current demand in Oklahoma.

Cost of Living Index

The Cost of Living Index measures relative price levels for consumer goods and services in participating area. The average for all participating places both metropolitan and non-metropolitan, equals 100, and each participant's index is read as a percentage of the average for all places. The composite index is based on six components - housing, utilities, grocery items, transportation, health care and miscellaneous goods and services.

Education Appreciation

The Enid Chamber welcomed back area educators for the upcoming school year. Autry Technology Center faculty and staff were treated to a delivery of donuts. Breakfast was provided for new teachers attending the Enid Public Schools New Teacher Orientation and hosted a reception for faculty and staff of Northern Oklahoma College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
