The Northwest District Junior Livestock Show begins today, March 1 and runs through Sunday, March 6. The Premium Sale will take place Monday, March 7th.
The show brings nearly one thousand exhibitors and their families to Enid each year providing significant economic impact on the community. Hotels, restaurants, gas stations and retail stores see an increase in business during the annual show which is in the 88th year.
While some are new to the show ring, others carry on a tradition that many of their family members have experienced before them. Regardless of experience, after months of feeding, grooming and working with their animal projects, students enter the ring in hopes of walking away with a blue ribbon.
The show is open to the public and free to watch. It features some of the best and brightest youth in the area. The level of respect and responsibility is unmatched and is fun to watch whether you know anything about the livestock industry or not. Visit the NWDJLS Web Site for a full schedule of events.
