April was both an exciting and challenging month for our community. We traveled to Washington, D.C. for our annual Legislative Fly-In, continuing the important work of representing Enid’s interests at the federal level. Closer to home, our community also faced a devastating tornado event that left more than 40 homes and other structures severely damaged or destroyed. In the midst of hardship, it has been inspiring to see neighbors, businesses, volunteers, and organizations come together to support one another.
What has encouraged me most in recent weeks are the conversations taking place about how people can be more involved with the Chamber. Whether visiting with current members about better utilizing Chamber resources or welcoming new members into the network, it is clear that the Chamber continues to be a valued and trusted partner for businesses and organizations across Enid.
As we navigate the coming weeks of recovery together, I encourage you to shop local and support local whenever possible. Dollars spent here have a greater impact here, helping our businesses remain strong and ensuring our community continues to move forward together.

Representatives from the City of Enid and our local business community recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the Chamber’s annual Legislative Fly-In. This important visit helps ensure Enid remains visible, engaged, and well represented as federal decisions are made that impact our community, economy, and military mission.
During the trip, the delegation met at the Pentagon to advocate for projects and priorities connected to Vance Air Force Base, one of Enid’s most significant economic and community partners. The group also met at the U.S. Capitol with members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation, including Congressman Kevin Hern, Congressman Frank Lucas, Senator James Lankford, and Senator Armstrong. Congressman Lucas shared that Enid is the right size to remain nimble - an encouraging reminder of the advantages our community has as a growing regional hub.
It was an exciting time to be in the nation’s capital, and we are grateful for the hospitality shown by Oklahoma’s elected officials and their staff. The delegation also enjoyed connecting with fellow Enid residents in Washington for other business, including representatives from PT and Pope Distributing. Trips like this strengthen long-standing relationships and help position Enid for continued success.

As we are all aware, Enid experienced the strongest tornado in more than 30 years. In the week since the storm, our community has responded in a remarkable way. As recovery continues, we encourage residents and businesses to use the City of Enid Tornado Relief Page as the official source for updated information, volunteer opportunities, and donation needs.
Volunteer needs will continue to evolve throughout the recovery process. Thank you for your willingness to help our friends and neighbors, and for your patience as the City works closely with affected areas through clean-up and access procedures. Recovery will not happen overnight, and we expect to need volunteers for many weeks ahead.
Monetary donations are also one of the most effective ways to support both immediate relief and long-term recovery. To help ensure funds can be used locally and flexibly, donations are encouraged through these community partner links:
• Cherokee Strip Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund
• United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma
If your business has planned a tornado relief fundraiser, special offer, or support event, please share that information with the Enid Chamber. We will continue highlighting those opportunities on our Facebook page to maximize support for impacted families and first responders. Businesses do not need to be Chamber members to be included in relief communications.
If your business offers services that could assist families during the rebuilding process, please contact us by May 8 to be included in a “Rebuild Resources” guide for affected households. Chamber members will be highlighted and listed first.

Chamber members gathered on April 8 for our latest Member Advantage Power Hour, featuring Cory Nicholson of Stride Bank, who shared valuable insights on market signals and what they mean for your business.
From global events to day-to-day operations, the discussion highlighted how disruptions can affect supply chains, production, and customer behavior—and why proactive planning is essential. As Cory noted, “Community feels it when your business is doing well,” reinforcing the broader impact of strong business preparedness.
A key takeaway: having a plan for short-term disruptions is critical. Liquidity strategies can help cover immediate needs like payroll and operations, while long-term investments require a steady, strategic approach. Even in uncertain times, having a plan in place is always better than having none.
Member Advantage Power Hour is a member-exclusive series designed to deliver timely, practical insights to help businesses navigate today’s evolving environment.
Join us in June as we partner with Security National Bank to share strategies for protecting your business from banking and financial scams. More details coming soon.
