LBM Market Update

By Marc Osborne, VP Purchasing

Lumber and panel prices have started to drop at the mill level, but other building products continue to post increases. The one constant is transportation woes. Trucks continue to be weeks late in picking up loads throughout the country. Railcars have suddenly become abundant in the South but are still scarce in Canada and the US West. These shipping delays mean that it will take some time for the lower prices to have an effect at the retail level. But the trend in commodity lumber is down.
