Looking ahead to Educate, Advocate, and Influence Change

As we begin a new year, I want to take a moment to reflect with gratitude on the many successes Fairfield DD achieved in 2025. This past year demonstrated what is possible when dedicated professionals remain focused on purpose, teamwork, and service. From continued progress in supporting people on their journey toward greater independence, to strengthening partnerships across our community, to the daily commitment shown by our staff, 2025 was a year marked by impact.

We passed a renewal levy in May, received the longest accreditation award possible through the Department of Developmental Disabilities (3 years), and moved our strategic plan forward. These are just a few of the many successes our organization, through our dedicated team members, experienced in 2025. I am proud of the work of our team, and the difference Fairfield DD continues to make in the lives of those we serve, and in our community!

Looking ahead to 2026, we enter the year with both significant opportunities and real challenges. We will continue navigating a complex service environment shaped by workforce pressures, evolving regulations, and growing expectations for quality and accountability. Also, our main source of funding, property tax dollars, is at risk. There is work ahead to educate, advocate, and influence change. At the same time, we have opportunities to innovate, strengthen our systems, develop our leaders, and expand how we support people to live meaningful, self-directed lives. This year will require innovation, adaptability, collaboration, and a willingness to grow—both individually and as an organization. And we will need your support as we do so!

As we move forward, our mission, vision, values, and customer service commitments remain our foundation and our compass. Everything we do must reflect our commitment to being good stewards of property tax dollars, collaboration, innovation, empowering others, accountability, and excellence in service. Each interaction—with individuals we support, families, providers, and our community stakeholders—is an opportunity to live out who we are and what we stand for. I look forward to all we will accomplish together in 2026.

Cordially,

David

Partnering for Safety in Our Community

The Fairfield DD, along with local law enforcement, are proud to announce the Blue Envelope Program and Safety Roster, two initiatives designed to promote safety, understanding, and inclusion for people in Fairfield County.

The Blue Envelope Program is designed to help law enforcement officers assist community members during traffic stops or emergencies. Each envelope instructs the owner to compile key documents to be presented during a traffic stop.

It has a vehicle decal to alert first responders serving as a cue to support clear and respectful communication.

Blue Envelopes are available at all Fairfield DD buildings, the Lancaster Police Department, the Pickerington Police Department, and the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office.

Caregivers, guardians, or individuals can register key information to help officers respond with care and understanding during emergencies. The roster is open to all ages with conditions such as, autism, dementia, developmental disabilities, mental health concerns, mobility limitations, or any other need that may impact interactions with first responders.
