Celebrating a Big Win for Fairfield DD and Our Community
Fairfield DD is excited to share some great news! We recently completed a major Accreditation Review by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), and the results were outstanding!
DODD reviewers praised all aspects of our work, highlighting our strong relationships with those we support, high-quality person-centered plans, and the care we bring to every detail. They also noted our website is accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly. (Check it out: www.FairfieldDD.com.)
During the review, our community partners described Fairfield DD as a trusted teammate and problem solver, which we’re incredibly proud of. These results reflect the dedication, compassion, and teamwork that define our organization.
We’re proud to serve Fairfield County, and we’re grateful for the trust you place in us every day. This success didn’t happen overnight. It took months of preparation and hard work from our entire team. The recognition for our work is a shared success—for our team, our partners, and the people we support.
Congratulations to all! I am proud to work with such a great team that is so dedicated to our mission!

Forest Rose Welcomes Future Nurses
There have been some new faces at Forest Rose this fall! The nursing team is partnering with Ohio University Lancaster’s nursing program to serve as a clinical site for senior nursing students. Forest Rose provides education to students from Fairfield County who are medically fragile, giving the nursing students valuable experience supporting a wide range of needs. Through shadowing, they also learn how students use communication devices to express themselves and share their needs.

Building Better Plans through Collaboration
Fairfield DD coordinates services for people with many diverse needs. When someone needs a higher level of support, Individual Support Coordinators (ISCs) create a detailed plan to make sure they get the right help.
As the Quality Assurance Coordinator, Charity supports ISCs as they build service plans and set meaningful goals. She also keeps up with changes in state rules that affect how services are provided. Another part of her job is leading nursing reviews to make sure medication supports are safe and follow all standards.
Charity played a key role in Fairfield DD’s recent accreditation review by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. She helped prepare, organize, and manage the documents that gave a clear picture of how the agency works.
Charity enjoys solving problems and compares her role to being a detective—looking at laws, policies, and data to find answers. She likes turning complex information into simple tools that help staff do their jobs better. Her work shows Fairfield DD’s strong commitment to quality and ongoing improvement. Her goal is to give ISCs the knowledge and confidence they need to create the best support plans for the people they serve.

September Was All About Safety
September was National Preparedness Month, and Fairfield DD took part in several safety drills to help us get better at handling emergencies.
Early in the month, we joined a countywide emergency drill at the Fairfield County Emergency Operations Center. The practice focused on how to respond if an area of the community, including a school, needed to shelter in place or evacuate. It went well and helped everyone work better together.
We also held a safety planning exercise in our buildings. At Forest Rose School, the team practiced what to do during a flash flood warning. Later in the month, we worked with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office to do ALICE training and an active-shooter drill at our Pickerington Regional Office and practiced what to do in the other buildings. Everything worked as planned, and we found a few ways to make things even better as we constantly work to be prepared.
