Nebraska Medicaid Expansion Update

Starting October 1, 2021, Heritage Health Adult will move from a two-tier benefit system to a single benefit package. This change means that all adults enrolled in HHA will receive full state plan coverage, which includes comprehensive physical and behavioral healthcare as well as vision, dental, and over-the-counter drug coverage.

Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) will be hosting one-hour educational webinars for providers on the implementation of these changes to the Medicaid Expansion program.

Covid-19 Delta Variant Causes More Disruption for Providers

On Thursday, August 5th The New York Times reported that providers are increasingly seeing Covid-19 disrupt their operations and imperil both staff and clients.

  • Two residents died with COVID-19 at a non-profit in South Dakota last week. Unvaccinated staff testing positive seemingly carried the virus into the facilities.
  • More providers are ordering mandatory vaccinations despite risks of losing staff.
  • Providers are divided on the best response. The American Health Care Association advocates continued education.

Agency Workforce Management contains several applications that help providers manage Covid-19 (and other emergencies). Download these fact sheets to learn about solutions that could aid your agency:

  • myCommunications (HIPPA secure communications for staff)
  • myTraining (track staff vaccinations and future booster shots)
  • Client Profiles (track client vaccinations, consent forms and future booster shots)

Joey Haldeman, manager of Blue Moon Fitness, has been participating in Hands of Heartland's Supported Employment Program, and has positive things to share!

“When Hands of Heartland reached out to me I was very excited to find out how we could work with them. We believe in enriching the quality of the lives in our community. In Hands of Heartland, I saw an opportunity to live out this principle. Jacob has been with us for almost three months. Now that he has the hang of things he comes into work happy and ready to go every day, and as a manager, I can ask for nothing more than that!

There has never been a task with which Jacob has not wanted to help. In the last week, he has even expressed his desire for more responsibility and to keep learning new parts of our business. It makes me extremely happy and proud to be a part of this team and be able to work with Hands of Heartland and Jacob."
