JULY 2021
Water-Wise Conservation Contest Ends July 31st

We are so excited at your response to our Conservation Contest!

Conservation is more important than ever. Installing conservation tools takes the guesswork out of saving water and lowering water and energy bills. You may already have water-efficient devices in your home. If not, sign up for a FREE CUSTOM KIT, and we will deliver it to your doorstep on selected dates during the month of July! Either way, if you are saving, you can win!

There is still time to show us how you conserve! Send us photos of your installed conservation devices to be entered to win our GRAND PRIZE! Simply submit photos of your conservation efforts and all submissions will be entered for a chance to win a Front-Loading Dishwasher, Irrigation Retrofit, or a Low-Flow Toilet.

A special thank you to the Oakley Senior Center and Rotary Club of Oakley's HomeTeam in assisting with free installation to those in need. We appreciate all that you do for our community!
Drought and Water Conservation

As we continue into the summer of our second dry-year, conservation continues to be at the forefront of drought-resiliency efforts. Forecasted snow packs were not only lower than average, but the runoff did not result in providing the expected water supply into our reservoirs. Investment in the expansion of the Los Vaqueros Reservoir has put our water supply in better shape than previous comparative drought years.
Although conservation currently remains voluntary, it is critical to continue our efforts – especially if drought conditions continue into next summer. Recently, Governor Newsom asked Californians to make voluntary reductions of 15% of their current water usage. To our customers who have implemented conservation efforts – we thank you! Everyone’s water-efficiency makes a big impact. If you are currently using in excess of 130 gallons per day per person in the summer, Diablo Water District encourages you to find ways to maximize water-efficiency in your home and landscape and reduce water waste. You can register your account in our online portal to see hourly water-use data, get leak alerts, and more.
We will continue to be your source for updates and conservation assistance as we endure this drought season together. Our customers are continuing to use less water than in the previous drought, however, now is the time to reflect on our efforts to steadily make small changes that will have big impacts. Whether a wet or dry year, we will always need to strive to conserve water and make conservation a way of life. We must remain persistent in our daily habits and take advantage of rebates and resources to protect and preserve for our future.

You asked, we listened.

Diablo Water District has heard our customer’s dissatisfaction with the credit card processing fees that went into effect on August 1, 2020. Since the integration of our new billing system, customers have paid a processing fee to cover the costs of using a credit card as their payment method. A Customer Satisfaction Survey was sent out in November 2020, and customers responded that the credit card fees caused them to stop using this payment method. This response, along with additional customer feedback over the phone, resulted in a proposal to have the District absorb all credit card processing fees.

At the District's Regular Board Meeting on May 26, 2021, the Board approved a new agreement to allow Diablo Water District to absorb all processing fees for credit card payments, effective July 1, 2021. As a not-for-profit public agency, we strive to keep our drinking water high-quality at the lowest possible price. We pride ourselves on transparency and value the feedback of our customers. Our team works hard to provide excellent customer service and assist our customers in saving money. We appreciate your feedback, as our customers are the heart of what we do.

We love hearing from you.
