Pay Date Now on Fridays

Reminder

All employees are reminded that our pay date is now on Fridays going forward. Since not all Aspirus employees are paid during the same week, this change first took effect on November 10 for everyone within last week’s pay cycle. Any remaining employees whose bi-weekly pay cycle occurs this week will see payroll deposits hit your bank accounts on November 17. Be sure you have reviewed the timing of any automatic withdrawals from your personal accounts and make any adjustments if needed.

Complete Your Benefit Elections

Deadline is November 29

The technical issues we experienced with 2024 Benefits Open Enrollment have been resolved and all benefit-eligible employees can complete your Open Enrollment.

Due to the system issues, Open Enrollment has been extended through November 29, 2023.

If you already submitted your enrollment, it is recommended that you review your elections and make any updates as needed. Click here to read a summary of the corrected issues and the actions you may need to take.

Take Action

Your action is required!

Log in to Infor CloudSuite Global Human Resources (GHR) by November 29 to submit your benefit elections that take effect January 1, 2024.

If you do not submit your elections during Open Enrollment, your benefits will end Dec. 31, 2023, and you will not be enrolled in benefits for 2024

With the recent Infor FSM Implementation, things look a little different this year:

NEW! - Profile Validation

Before you can complete your benefit elections in GHR, you will need to review your personal information, including phone number, residential and/or mailing address, email address and emergency contact information. You can opt-in to receive text messages for future reminders about things like Open Enrollment!

Open Enrollment materials and resources are available at aspirus.org/totalrewards, which provides access to materials outside of the Aspirus network.

Honoring Our Veterans

US flag

Veterans Day was November 11. From nurses to administrative staff, veterans have left their mark on every aspect of our organization. Thank you to all our veterans for your dedication and bravery.

Office of Medical Education (OME) Awards

The Aspirus Office of Medical Education (OME) recognizes collaboration and contributions made by Aspirus Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) as clinical teachers for medical students and advance practice clinician students.

This is the fifth year OME has recognized these efforts throughout the Aspirus system.

This year’s Joy Award goes to Gregory Werner, PA, with Aspirus Medford Clinic.

Greg demonstrates enthusiasm, teaches with happiness, celebrates student and academic success, and consistently contributes to a positive learning environment.

Below is a submission by a student of Greg.

“Greg was a great preceptor! One of the most important catalysts for learning is having a preceptor that is enthusiastic to have a student. He was very personable and constantly advocated for me as a student to have the best learning experience possible. He encouraged and supported independence with patient care while still being there to support and teach.” – PA Student

Additional OME Award winners will be announced in future editions of Aspirus News Now and on our Aspirus social media channels.

Congratulations

Nurse Intern Graduation

Aspirus Health is celebrating the most recent graduates of the Aspirus Nurse Intern Program.

This fall, four nursing students completed 10-week internships at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital and Aspirus Wausau Hospital. They worked shoulder to shoulder with nurses and other clinicians to get an immersive experience in patient care.

Congratulations to our summer nurse interns, and thank you to department preceptors, educators and leaders for making this a successful program!

Three of the interns have accepted positions as Nurse Technicians in their internship departments. The fourth has returned to their previous clinical role at Aspirus.

Way To Go

Nicole Kudronowicz - Aspirus Wausau Hospital - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Taylor Modrzewski - Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital - Birthing Center

Kessa Pepke - Aspirus Wausau Hospital - Oncology Care Unit

Lindsay Woller - Aspirus Wausau Hospital - Cardiac Telemetry Unit

The Aspirus Nurse Intern Program is a 10-week paid internship. While this is an occasional position, interns may work up to a full-time status as school schedules allow. Students qualify when they have completed 3 years of a BSN program and/or completed 2 semesters of an ADN program by the start of the internship. The next internship cohort starts December 18.

Are You Familiar with EMTALA?

Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week was last week, but as we previously teased, we are expanding this recognition week to share related tips from our compliance and privacy partners to help you avoid some common pitfalls.

This week Lori Scheller, Compliance Partner, addresses some frequently asked questions about EMTALA – a federal law that Medicare-participating hospitals must follow related to providing emergency care.

Click the link below to view Lori’s take on the following questions:

  • What is EMTALA?
  • Does EMTALA apply only to patients who present to the hospital’s Emergency Department?
  • Does EMTALA apply to all patients within our healthcare system?
  • Does Aspirus have an EMTALA policy?

The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) sets aside the third Thursday of every November to celebrate National Rural Health Day (NRHD).

NRHD is an annual opportunity to recognize rural health care successes and accomplishments and acknowledge the unique challenges to providing high quality health care to rural residents – including provider shortages, an older population living with a greater number of chronic conditions, larger percentages of un- and underinsured citizens, lack of transportation and more.

Thank you to all Aspirus Health team members for:

  • Your commitment to our mission of healing people, promoting health and strengthening communities.
  • Living our values of compassion, accountability, collaboration, foresight and joy.

Together, we ensure the people who need us receive the best in rural health.
