"What is that thing?": Hydroponic gardens spawn sustainability and nutrition conversations at Aspirus Health

FoodService Director (FSD) recently ran a feature on Aspirus Keweenaw’s hydroponic garden, part of our system environmental sustainability program. Members of Aspirus Keweenaw’s Green Team spoke about the garden’s environmental and health benefits. FSD serves as a trusted source of news, trends and ideas for the non-commercial foodservice industry.

Rover Maintenance

Scheduled for April 5

mportant

All iPhones used for Epic Rover within Aspirus facilities will undergo maintenance coupled with the upcoming Epic upgrade.

  • Rover downtime: 1-2 a.m. (CST) on April 5

During this time iPhone Rover devices used by staff should be docked in their home docking stations.

No iPhone Rovers should be used during the maintenance period. If an iPhone Rover is not placed in the docking station during this timeframe, it could miss critical updates impacting use of the device, so please make sure they are docked during this time.

Epic

Compass Rose

Phase 1 will go live April 5

Currently, Aspirus Ambulatory Care Coordination leverages multiple tools within and outside of Epic to deliver care to our patients, creating many inefficiencies. To streamline care delivery and improve efficiencies, we have worked with Epic to implement a new module called Compass Rose. With Epic Compass Rose, Aspirus will be able to leverage a systemized, integrated work tool within Epic to support transparent delivery and improve communication to the rest of the Care Team.

Epic Compass Rose supports Aspirus’ care coordination needs across the enterprise, including population health, social care, health plan case management, and community programs. With Compass Rose, our care coordinators can efficiently manage outreach, engage patients and their support networks, collaborate on care plans, and connect with community partners to improve individuals’ well-being and the health of our populations.

Affected persons for Phase 1 and training

Ambulatory Care Coordinators and Comprehensive Care Coordinators

  • End-user training will be delivered through self-paced eLearning modules in HealthStream, March 20-31.
  • Please complete your training, ask your leaders/super users questions and Practice, Practice, Practice.

Family and Internal Medicine providers

  • If a transition-of-care visit is required, providers will see a new BPA to suggest the SmartSet and LOS codes.
  • Please review the training that is included in your upgrade training materials and TipSheet.

Phase 2 go-live will be May 23, 2023. This will include CCM (Complex Care Management), CDM (Chronic Disease Management – Health Plan), and CDM (Chronic Disease Management – Care Managers).

Additional programs that include Heart Failure Clinic Navigation, Ambulatory Social Work, Oncology Navigation, Lung Navigation, and Breast Navigation will follow.

5 Myths and Facts about Food and Weight Loss

Diet culture emphasizes fad or quick diets that claim fast weight loss results and health improvements. Diet trends may offer food-specific fad diets that rely on the myth that some foods have special properties that can cause weight loss or gain.

“What rarely gets mentioned are the unsexy strategies: finding enjoyable ways to be more active, getting in control of emotional eating, learning to prepare your own meals, and enjoy more veggies,” says Aspirus Registered Dietitian Ashley Chrisinger. “It's not new or trendy, but it is the most sustainable strategy for most people.”
