"Keep looking up... That's the secret of life.
- SNOOPY
|
National Puppy Day is March 23 and we love our pups at Bestpass. Check out a few fun facts about our favorite furry friends.
Puppies can have identical twins!
The first known case of identical puppy twins was confirmed in 2016, by a South African veterinarian. During a C-section on a Irish wolfhound, Kurt de Cramer noticed that two of the seven pups in the litter shared a single placenta. Testing later confirmed that the puppies were genetically identical. Some puppies can be born with green coats.
How festive! Sometimes a light-colored litter can be born green. It's not permanent, though. The green gradually disappears over the course of a few weeks.
Puppy eyes are real and intended.
Puppies and adult dogs have learned that raising their eyebrows makes their eyes appear bigger and sadder - making them a magnet for our attention. Check out
this study from 2017, that proves dogs are more likely to make puppy-dog eyes when they know humans are watching.
The first pup to play Lassie wasn't exactly a "good boy."
The pup, named Pal, had some behavior issues and drove his owner crazy with nonstop barking. He also loved to chase after motorcycles - a pastime he never outgrew. After animal trainer Henry Peck failed to make any progress with Pal, another animal trainer had much better luck and Pal starred in seven Lassie movies.
The Saturday Evening Post declared that Pal had enjoyed "the most spectacular canine career in film history."

SH 130 Concession Company
|
Who is SH 130 Concession Company?
SH 130 Concession Company (SH 130CC) operates and maintains the 41-mile southern section of SH 130, between Austin and San Antonio, Texas, known as segments 5 and 6.
Collectively, SH 130 segments 1 through 6 offer drivers a 91-mile safe, fast and reliable alternative to an often congested I-35 through Central Texas.
What's new? The SH 130 CC recently completed reconstruction projects within this corridor to improve ride quality and safety. Additionally, they utilize an open road tolling solution - tolls are charged without drivers having to slow down or stop at a toll booth.
In the past 6 months, the average travel time savings during peak periods is in excess of 30 minutes!

When an Invoice isn't an Invoice
|
Ever wonder how your payment works at Bestpass? Our top-notch customer service representative and webinar extraordinaire, Kevin, gives us the scoop.
In most walks of life, an invoice is something you pay on. In fact, if you look it up in the dictionary as a verb, "to invoice" someone is to send them a bill, basically. But in our particular ecosystem of tolls, transponders, t
ruc
ks and the people who make it all work, an invoice is something different, at least currently. An invoice in our world-more often than not-is actually more of a monthly statement, looking back at the previous month. By and large, you don't pay on your invoices to us.
What you do pay on for us is something called a Replenishment Request-which is how we refill your "toll tank" to replace the toll you've used. Now one might be forgiven for missing the distinction when you look at the actual emails that you get-because the format is fundamentally identical. In fact, the invoice even has a little space on it for the amount that you would pay, but don't be fooled! If you look above that very space where you can enter how much you're going to pay, you'll see-if indeed we are looking at an invoice here-the amount due is probably zero.
