Commission Action from December 14 Meeting
From redistricting boundaries for four election boundaries (Ordinance 21-27) to hiring several key department heads, the Cooper City Commission was at work on Tuesday, December 14.

Holiday Home Decorating Contest Winners
Nine Cooper City homes entered the 2021 Holiday Home Decorating Contest. Each home was considered for the categories of Most Lights, Most Creative, and Best Overall. Judging this year's contest were members of the Cooper City Teen Council.  

The following winners were announced during our Holiday Movie at the Park on December 10, 2021. Congratulations to the following winners:
  • Most Lights: Reichman Family - 9449 SW 51 Street
  • Most Creative: Anderson Family - 11608 Sunfish Way
  • Best Overall: Newland Family - 2591 Regalia Way

Third Graders' Plans Address Important Community Issues
Last week, Miss Amy Rodgers' Third Grade Gifted Class at Cooper City Elementary School presented projects to Mayor Ross, Commissioner Howard Meltzer, Commissioner Ryan Shrouder and City Manager Joseph Napoli.

The projects focus on cost-effective ways to address recycling, homelessness, and littering. As the class said, they may be small, but they are ready to make a big impact!

Thank you to Principal Miranda, Miss Rodgers, and the entire class for not only bringing great ideas, but putting a plan in action.

Tomorrow is the Last Day Santa is Accepting Letters at Special Cooper City Mailbox
Santa has set-up a special letter drop box at Broward Sheriff's Office Cooper City District lobby. Letters must be sent (dropped) to Santa before December 17. Santa will be replying to them soon and sending his elves to deliver them to your home.

Santa's Cooper City Elf was Spotted
Someone snapped this photo of the elf snooping around the projector, during last Friday's "Holiday Movie at the Park." Keep your eyes open, Cooper City. He's sure to turn up again.

Soccer Fields at Two Sports Complexes Closed for Improvements
The soccer fields at Bill Lips Sports Complex and at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex will be closed for three weeks, starting next Monday, December 20.  We apologize for any inconvenience while we make improvements to the fields.

No Garbage or Bulk Waste Pick-Up Christmas Day
Bulk Waste Pick-up Schedule
December 20 - 24, 2021
There is no garbage or bulk waste collection on Saturday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

Those whose bulk pick-up would have been on Dec. 25, the bulk trash will be collected on Thursday, Dec. 30 instead. The zone includes Country Glen, Forest Lake, Flamingo Gardens, and Hibbs' Grove.

Note: Christmas trees that do not fit inside your regular trash bin can be placed on the curb for collection during a bulk waste pick-up only.

This free delivery protection program is underway through December 24, 2021. You must register.

Operation Front Porch is here to help prevent “porch pirates,” who target your holiday packages while you’re not home. Our BSO Cooper City team offers the police station as a safe delivery location for your holiday packages. It’s a simple and free service for Cooper City residents.

Youth Holiday Break Camps and Tot Classes Available
Tot Time Classes

Developmentally appropriate learning activities for children are offered through active hands-on learning experiences. Miss Grace combines a variety of classes that include literacy, art, and science where children have the ability to learn skills that can assist in their emotional and physical development.

Winter Break Camp
Two special winter break camp sessions will be held. Space is limited and available only to children in kindergarten through grade 8. Resident registration is currently open. Non-residents can begin registering on Monday, December 13.

Broward County Property Appraiser's office will set-up a mobile office at the Cooper City Community Center on the second Tuesday of the month from 12 noon to 2 p.m., next stop is Tuesday, January 11.
