April is National Landscape Architecture Month and we'd like to feature one of our Landscape Architect's favorite projects - NatureWorksPark located in Hollidaysburg, PA!
In 2012, the Blair County Conservation District purchased a 15-acre tract of land in Hollidaysburg, PA and began planning Blair County’s first environmental specific outdoor education and recreation area.
NatureWorksPark is located in the floodplain of the Beaverdam Branch of the Juniata River and adjacent to Exceptional Value Wetlands. The park design contains accessible walking paths, a man-made wetland with boardwalk, a pavilion for 100 people, a pavilion for 30 people, numerous rain gardens for stormwater management, a unique boulder amphitheater classroom, a pollinator garden, and numerous education signs.
Keller Engineers’ responsibilities included completing the design plans, stormwater management calculations, erosion and sedimentation control permitting, NPDES permitting, Chapter 106 permitting, rezoning hearing, building permit applications, land development approvals through Hollidaysburg Borough, bidding, and construction management and inspection. Keller Engineers also assisted with the DCNR grant application and administration.
