National Water Quality Month

green_leaf_water_drop.jpg

August is National Water Quality Month! Created in 2005 by the Environmental Protection Agency, this month serves as a reminder of how important it is to have access to safe, clean water.

Keller Engineers' Water/Wastewater Division is dedicated to providing clients with quality water and wastewater treatment facilities, both of which are crucial to ensuring local water resources are kept safe and clean. Featured below is one such facility located in Union Township, Mifflin County.

Union Township Wastewater Treatment Facility

This project addressed operational issues at the existing sewage treatment plant by increasing component capacities and replacing outdated equipment.

The $4.4 million project consisted of installation of a new aerobic digester tank, rehabilitation of the return activated sludge pump station, construction of two blower buildings, reconstruction of the reed beds, and various smaller improvements.

The Union Township Sewage Treatment Facility is an extended aeration activated sludge sewage treatment plant, sized to accommodate an average hydraulic loading of 650,000 gallon/day.

WELCOME AUTUMN!

Please join Keller Engineers in welcoming Autumn Holdsworth to our Land Development Division! Autumn is our newest Environmental Scientist. She is a graduate of Juniata College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. As a student, Autumn interned for two summers at the Cambria County Conservation District where she conducted environmental education programs, performed detailed stream inspections, and took measures to prevent invasive insects. Prior to coming on board at Keller Engineers, she worked for Keystone Environmental and Health Safety Service conducting air, noise, groundwater and potable water sampling, and writing Phase I Environmental Reports, Remedial Action Plans, and Site Characterization Reports. Autumn is a great addition to the Land Development team and we look forward to having her work with clients!
