Fall Luau Picnic

On Thursday, September 12th, Keller Engineers' Activities Committee hosted a Fall Luau Picnic complete with cheeseburgers, grilled chicken, salad, fruit bowls, cookies, potato salad and a Hawaiian t-shirt contest! 1st Place went to Office Administrator, Melanie Weidlich, and Shawn Ritchey, Chief Construction Engineer, received 2nd Place. Each won a Sheetz gift card!

Ghost Town Trail

On Tuesday, August 27th, Keller Engineers joined the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority to break ground for Phase I of the long-awaited final 1.5-mile section of the Ghost Town Trail.


This phase of the project consists of the construction of a pedestrian

14’-0” x 10’-6” Cast-in-Place Concrete Box Culvert under T-455 (Church Street) along with the construction of approximately 2,500’ of Trail Surface on existing Rail Bed. The project will tie to the North Street trail head and extend south toward SR 3049 (Cardiff Road).

Anticipated Completion Date: November 2024

Juniata College Founders Hall

Keller Engineers is no stranger to projects within the education sector. This project included the demolition and reconstruction of an existing wing, utility relocation, stormwater management, erosion control, landscape plan, concrete sidewalk replacement, ADA accessibility, and a topographic survey.

 

Project Uniqueness & Challenges: 

*Historic structure; keystone building of Juniata College; Office of College Administration

*Rear wing was demolished and rebuilt, and the third floor was renovated due to poor structural integrity.

*Roof water was collected in a 10,000 gallon underground cistern for reuse in the lawn sprinkler system.

*Project was awarded LEED Gold Certification.

Main Street Matters

The Main Street Matters (MSM) program is designed to support downtowns and surrounding neighborhoods with tools to create healthy, vibrant, and welcoming communities. Funding is available to support revitalization efforts in planning, business support, aesthetic improvements, and the increase of safety and security.


Communities may wish to consider designation through the MSM program as a Main Street or Elm Street. Designation is an opportunity for targeted investment and development including the identification of specific needs for investment and/or development and the design and implementation of a strategy to address those needs. Recycling Performance Grants

Recycling Program Performance Grants are available to all Pennsylvania local governments with recycling programs. The grants awards are based on the total tons recycled and the applicant's recycling rate.


Post-consumer aluminum and steel cans, glass, plastics, corrugated cardboard, newspapers and other marketable grades of paper are materials eligible for the grants. All eligible materials collected from residents, business, schools, colleges, universities and community events can be factored into the grant awards. More information is available here. Deadline to apply is December 31, 2024

New Land Development Intern

Our Land Development Division has a new high school intern! Ben Benharthorton is a senior at Bishop Guilfoyle High School with a strong interest in pursuing civil and environmental engineering or geotechnical engineering. In addition to playing on the baseball team, he also participates in Student Council, serving as Chair of the Blood Drive Committee. Outside of school, Ben enjoys reading history books with a preference for learning more about American History. Welcome Ben!
