It seems like the talk around campus this week is that “We are so busy.” “We have so much to do.” Coming off a fabulous, busy, full MBS Fair weekend, we hit the ground running with a jammed pack week. In addition to our daily obligations of working, teaching, learning, praying and the private obligations we have, our week has “looked” like this at MBS: teacher meetings and workshops, Youth Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Red Ribbon Week – skits, The Kabuki Dancers, popsicles at recess, pledge signings, a “Glow Party”; football games, basketball games, cross country practices and meets, swim practices and meets; cheer, pep and dance practice, Mass, picture re-takes, buddy activities, Praise and Worship Club, Home and School Treats and Sweets for the faculty and staff, spirit shirt day, a pep rally and student appreciation day. Whew!
Just writing this, fills me with anxiety and exhaustion. However, by taking it one day at a time and being blessed and surrounded with wonderful, hardworking people at MBS it all happened with joy and Grace. But it also reminds me of all of the spectacular, fun and faith filled days our school community celebrates and gives me pause to find joy in simple daily routines.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders, and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with nonsense. This new day is too dear, with it comes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.”
Aren’t we fortunate that every day is a dear, new day and comes with invitations to find joy and experience Grace? Take a moment to think about your day? Who supported you, what invitation did you receive and where did you find joy in your ordinary day?

We are proud to announce that we keep your children safe when they are in our care. Thursdays, your children walk from the school to the church and back to school. We still maintain their safety. When cars drive through the parking lot, that decreases their safety. Please, for the love of all things, do NOT drive from the school lot to the church lot while we are walking kids to celebrate the Mass. If you are coming to celebrate Mass with us, please take the Baringer - Jefferson route.
Thank you, PRL

Office of Child Protection
|
|
According to the Safe Environment Policy mandated by the Diocese of Baton Rouge, all church parish and school ministry volunteers/chaperones must complete a mandatory background check and child protection training. Please note that MBS School child protection requirements are not the same as MBS Church Parish. Therefore, if you are compliant for the Parish, you are not automatically compliant for the School, and vice versa. It is important to remember the child protection paperwork is time sensitive. If you began the process, but did not complete all the steps in a timely manner, you may have to resubmit the paperwork. Many files have been archived due to inactivity, and/or files not being updated.
Please contact Mrs. Landry at 225-753-5526 or email
[email protected]
for assistance in receiving the required paperwork or to check on your volunteer status.
Remember that Child Protection credentials allow the holder of these credentials the opportunity to chaperone/volunteer at MBS Parish and/or School. All credentialed adult volunteers must abide by the sign-up and confirmation process for each event.
Chaperone and Volunteer Requirements Agreement 2019-2020
Those adults who have completed the Safe Environment and Child Protection requirements and have been cleared to volunteer at MBS School must complete the Chaperone/Volunteer Requirements Agreement form each year prior to volunteering. The agreement form is an overview of the responsibilities and requirements of chaperones and volunteers. This form will stay in the child protection file and must be updated each school year. Please find the file
attached
for your convenience (updated 10/23/19).

Faculty Meeting - Items Needed
Remember Mid-Terms...that's what it is like for teachers to go through an entire day with your kids and then hang out in the library for a Faculty Meeting. This is why we need to send them a "care package" of treats and drinks to enjoy during their "cram session." They are simple and don't even ask for this stuff. We just do b/c we are a family. If you can "do," then click on the following SignUp Genius
link to bring an item or two.
World Fair Day
The Sixth Grade will host their annual World Fair Day. This day is packed with volunteers to supervise "Country" Groups as well as "Tour Guides" to walk classes through the countries. Please sign up
here for the opportunity to volunteer.
Cafeteria Volunteers Needed - November
for November volunteer sign up. We rely on volunteers to help run the lunch line efficiently. Please consider volunteering and remember to log your hours on your Time & Talent card.
Grandparents Day - Items & Volunteers Needed
Our MBS Grandparents LOVE Grandparents Day! They love spending time with the children, but they mainly love the setup!!! Please sign up
here to donate items so our Grandparents will still love us. If we don't have a full spread they (mainly my mother) will criticize us about what we should have done. We also need volunteers for this day.
Coke Tops
Our Coke Tops Bin is full from donations last year, but we still need help scanning the tops into our account. The coke tops can be sent home with your student and scanned with your phone at home. Time spent scanning count towards your Time and Talent hours. If you are interested, please contact Jeannine Naquin at
[email protected]
or Kylie Ortego at
