Writing Contest
The Leopold Writing Program invites
New Mexico students in grades 6-12
to submit original essays in response to this question:
How might reuniting our understanding of "ecology" and
"economy" help solve today's environmental problems?

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning essayists in each of three grade  categories: 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12. Submissions are accepted through Feb 21, 2020.

This year's essay topic honors the work of both Aldo Leopold, considered  by many to be the father of wildlife ecology, and William D. Nordhaus, an  Albuquerque native and the 2018 Nobel Laureate in Economics, who will  present the Contest Awards to the winning student essayists at the 2020  Annual Leopold Lecture on April 20.

For complete instructions and entry form, please visit

Tierra Antigua Elementary PTA Shares a "Great Idea"
Our school does an AMAZING job of "bringing to life" all of our school events sponsored by the  Tierra Antigua Elementary  PTA. I really want to show off our school to you.
We did our annual One School One Book program this year as Wizard of Oz. We purchased $2500 worth of books so that every family could have a book and read along. We had a culminating family event that cost $5 per family and everything else was free!!  We gave back to teachers over $9000 for participating that night. Our Hall of Honor went up for Veterans Day and We kicked off our book fair  this week. Please enjoy our photos.
