QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
Fall 2025
| | A WORD FROM PBPO BOARD CHAIR | | |
Dear Friends,
2025 has brought major challenges for nonprofits, and PBPO has stepped up. With demand for our services at an all-time high, PBPO has maintained a 100% acceptance rate and said YES to every qualifying nonprofit seeking our help. Your support makes this possible. Together, we celebrated our collective impact at our Cheers to 10 Years celebration and during Pro Bono Week.
As we begin our second decade, PBPO is growing our team, expanding our volunteer network, and strengthening the nonprofit community.
Imagine if every attorney committed to pro bono work. Nonprofits would thrive, and our legal community would be stronger and more connected. One volunteer called PBPO a “culture of sunshine.” I love that. This work doesn’t just make a difference — it feels good. There’s still time to volunteer this year!
Thank you for sharing a commitment to our mission, whether as an attorney volunteer, nonprofit leader, community partner, or financial supporter.
Thank you,
| | |
Susan Street Whaley
PBPO Board Chair

| | | | Cheers to 10 Years was truly the celebration of a decade! Over 250 guests gathered on September 26 for a celebratory and fun evening. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, over $80,000 of support was generated - funds that will help ensure nonprofits can continue to access the legal services they need. Check out event photos and our 10th anniversary video. | | | | PBPO led the local celebration of National Pro Bono Week, presented by the Ohio State Bar Foundation, from October 19 – 25. Throughout the week, PBPO recognized its cadre of 1,200 local attorney volunteers, who have helped provide over $13.8 million of legal services and education to local nonprofits, at no cost, since 2015. Thanks to all of you who came out for coffee at one of our We Love Our Volunteers a Latte events. | | Giles Roblyer, Procter & Gamble | | NONPROFIT CLIENT SPOTLIGHT | | |
Agape for Youth
A leader in quality therapeutic foster care, Agape for Youth embraces the principle that each individual youth they serve is a person of worth. Agape began their partnership with PBPO during a pivotal leadership transition when they needed expert guidance to strengthen their foundation. Now, Agape is better equipped to support children, families, and young adults involved in foster care in the Dayton area.
“With PBPO’s support, we were able to ensure that Agape’s governance and operational documents reflect the full scope of our work. Their guidance has given us the confidence to focus on our mission — serving children, families, and young adults — while building a strong foundation for future growth.” – Nicole Sturk, President and CEO
