Sally Blount, Dean of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, wrote an op-ed for Fortune's Most Powerful Women Insider network on whether or not it's better to be an introvert or extrovert when it comes to leadership. The MPW Insider network is an online community where the most thoughtful and influential people in business contribute answers to timely questions about careers and leadership.

DORRI MCWHORTER AND YWCA METROPOLITAN CHICAGO RECEIVE $1.1 MILLION GIFT TO OPEN TECH INSTITUTE
Thanks to a generous gift from Steve Sarowitz, Founder and Chairman of Paylocity, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago opened the Julian Grace Innovation & Technology Institute, named in honor of Sarowitz' Julian Grace Foundation. YWCA programs at the center will address the 21st century needs of the community, bridging the digital divide, preparing youth and adults for sustained employment and supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners. Specific programs will include TechGYRLS, CONSTRUCT, Developing Digital Diversity (3D) and 3D Youth, Business and Entrepreneurship Services and a host of additional adult and youth technology education and training classes.

CHICAGO BOTANIC GARDEN NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
The Board of Directors of the Chicago Botanic Garden has named Jean M. Franczyk as its next president and CEO. Jean Franczyk is a South Side native who has worked at the Museum of Science and Industry and most recently was deputy director of London's Science Museum. She will succeed Sophia Shaw and begin her duties April 1. Read more...

ELLEN COSTELLO ELECTED TO CITI BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Citi's Board of Directors has elected Ellen Costello as a new independent director, with service commencing January 15, 2016. Ellen served as the Chief Executive Officer of BMO Financial Corporation and U.S. Country Head of BMO Financial Group from 2011- 2013. In total, she spent 30 years at BMO, holding a wide range of senior leadership positions across retail, commercial and corporate banking and capital markets in the U.S., Canada and Asia.

Ellen currently serves on the public board of DH Corporation, a provider of secure and reliable technology solutions to domestic and global financial institutions. She also serves on the board of The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and as chair of the board of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago (Wendy DuBoe). Read more...

Carla Michelotti has been elected to the American Advertising Federation's 67th annual Advertising Hall of Fame, the highest award bestowed within the industry. The AAF will honor Carla at the annual Induction Ceremonies & Gala Dinner on Monday, April 11 at The Waldorf Astoria in New York. The Advertising Hall of Fame gala is among the advertising industry's biggest and most prestigious events of the year, with leaders from the world's largest brands, ad agencies and media companies. SXU'S SCHOOL OF EDUCATION PAYS-IT-FORWARD TO FOOD PANTRY
Saint Xavier University's School of Education (Christine Wiseman) is helping to pay-it-forward this holiday season. Instead of buying holiday gifts among colleagues, this year the SOE donated $725 on Tuesday, December 15 to the local Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry located at 11030 S. Longwood Drive. This food pantry helps feed the needy all year long and sadly, demand is always higher during the holiday season. Read more...

ANA DUTRA TO SERVE ON NACD PANEL
Ana Dutra, CEO of The Executives' Club of Chicago, will serve as a panelist at the National Association of Corporate Directors' "Audit Committee Agendas 2016: Emerging Issues and Best Practices" event on January 14, 2016. The discussion will focus on how Audit Committees will prioritize their agendas for 2016 including evaluation and management of cyber security risks, implementation of the new Revenue Recognition Account Standard, the pros and cons of outsourcing or co-sourcing internal audit functions, and methods of assessing the effectiveness of Audit Committees.
