ULTA BEAUTY BOOSTS ANNUAL FORECAST
Ulta's annual forecast surged due to high demand for beauty products. "Several positive factors are coming together to drive the momentum in our business," Chief Executive Officer Mary Dillon said in the statement. MICHELLE SEITZ ON THE CHALLENGES FACING 'MATURE' ASSET MANAGEMENT
Michelle Seitz, head of Willian Blair IM, participated in an interview with the Financial Times and shared her thoughts on the challenges of facing 'mature' asset management. Michelle, who was a portfolio manager for 23 years, said the "maturing asset management industry" will look different, and not just in terms of products and technology. "People need to save more, they are getting old, and they need to invest in a lower-return environment. All of these things add up to a more mature asset management industry rather than one that has experienced organic growth pretty consistently over time," said Michelle Seitz. Read more...
SUSTAINABLE SOUTH SIDE CHARTER SCHOOL BY STUDIO GANG REVEALED 
Jeanne Gang's Studio Gang Architects has revealed its most recent Chicago project, an environmentally-conscious K-8 Chicago public charter school slated for the city's southwest side. Known as the Academy for Global Citizenship, the new campus will occupy an undeveloped site just east of LeClaire-Hearst Park in Chicago's Garfield Ridge community, replacing the school's current home located at 4647 W. 47th Street. Fifth Third Bank held its 6th Annual Community Leaders Program honoring outstanding leaders from across the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana regions. YWCA Metropolitan Chicago (Dorri McWhorter) was honored as the nonprofit of the year and Julie Smolyansky, President & CEO, Lifeway Foods, Inc., was recognized as the Women's Community Leader. Honorees each received a $5,300 donation from Fifth Third Bank to pay it forward.
MACARTHUR FOUNDATION'S 100&CHANGE PROGRAM
The MacArthur Foundation (Julia Stasch) announced the 100&Change program, which aims to award its biggest individual grant yet via a competition in the realms of public-spiritedness and altruism. As part of the judging, finalists will be asked to give public talks detailing their ideas, the staid world of philanthropy borrowing from the popularity of public ideas forums. The competition is wide-open by design, but it does ask would-be grantees to address a critical problem affecting people, places or the planet. Read more...

GRAHAM MEDIA GROUP ACQUIRES WCWJ AND WSLS
Graham Media Group, Inc., ( Emily Barr) a Graham Holdings Company subsidiary, has reached an agreement with Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. and Media General, Inc. to acquire a WCWJ, a CW affiliate television station in Jacksonville, FL and WSLS an NBC affiliate television station in Roanoke, VA. Graham Media Group, Inc., owns five local TV stations - each in a top-50 market and all recognized as leaders- reaching 6.4% of U.S. television households. The acquisition is subject to approval by the FCC, other regulatory approvals, and the satisfaction of closing conditions. Read more...

Blythe McGarvie wrote an article in the New Eastern European Journal entitled, "Wildest Dreams in Croatia." The article focused on business and culture in Croatia and was written while she was living in Zagreb during the past academic year. Alysia Tate, Director of Programs for the Chicago Foundation for Women, joined Justin Kaufmann at The Big Table to discuss her career path and the Chicago Foundation for Women, including the impact of the budget impasse on women and families, the 100 Percent Project, the struggle for equal pay and creating pathways for women to occupy leadership roles. MONDELEZ TO EXPAND ONLINE MEDIA PRESENCE
Mondelez International Inc's (Dana Anderson) "Twist, Lick, Dunk" mobile application has been such a success that the snack company plans to roll out similar games in a move away from traditional advertising to create its own content. Mondelez said it was developing a Sour Patch Kids mobile app, and would change its product advertising by partnering with companies like Twenty-First Century Fox Inc and online publisher Buzzfeed to produce content including video and a live televised event. FOX will live-broadcast a sky-diving stunt to support the July 30 launch of Mondelez's "Mad Intense" flavor Stride gum. Read more...
SINAI HEALTH SYSTEM NEW $4MM UNIT
Chicago's Holy Cross Hospital plans to open a 32-bed crisis stabilization unit in February where police can take people experiencing psychiatric or substance-use problems. Sinai Health System ( Karen Teitelbaum) announced plans for a $4 million unit next to the South Side hospital's emergency department. Sinai is working with city and county law enforcement to keep mentally ill people out of jail. Sinai plans to open an outpatient mental health clinic this summer and a 24-bed inpatient unit in the fall. Read more...
PEPSI LAUNCHES CREATORS LEAGUE IN-HOUSE STUDIO 
PepsiCo ( Trish Lukasik) recently acquired a state-of-the-art content studio in Manhattan. The space will be key as the food and beverage giant strengthens its ties to the entertainment world, pumping out branded content while also pursuing distribution deals with film studios, online publishers and other outlets for brand-agnostic content. The unit, called the Creators League, will serve as an internal production arm for scripted series, films, music recordings, reality shows and other content distributed for TV, online viewing and services such as Amazon Prime. DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TEST FISH IN SUSHI FOR AUTHENTICITY
Students in a Dominican University (Donna M. Carroll and Victoria Chou) biology professor's class collected random raw fish samples throughout Chicago and the western suburbs-and found that of the 52 fish samples tested, 16 were identified as species that didn't match the menu description or product label. ELIZABETH "LIBBET" RICHTER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE GUILD OF THE CHICAGO HISTORY MUSEUM
Elizabeth "Libbet" Richter (The Richter Group) has been elected President of the Guild of the Chicago History Museum (formerly the Chicago Historical Society). Founded in 1948, the Guild was established to "further public interest in the Chicago Historical Society and promote the general activities of the Society." Today the Guild continues its educational mission while raising funds to support such projects at the Digital Photography Studio, the North & Clark Cafe Complex and the interactive Guild Gallery, in addition to such individual exhibits as "The 1968 Exhibit."

THERESA E. MINTLE TACKLES PRESSING ISSUES AT CITY MAKERS SUMMIT
Theresa E. Mintle, President & CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, served as a panelist for The Atlantic's City Makers Summit on June 1 in Chicago. The event brought together Chicago's business community with nonprofits and civic leaders to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing our city at this time. As a panelist, Theresa and other leaders discussed innovative ideas and partnerships that could potentially create livable, sustainable and economically vibrant communities within Chicago.
ARTHUR J. GALLAGHER & CO. ADDED TO THE S&P 500
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. was added to the S&P 500, replacing Coca Cola Enterprises. Gallagher is the fourth largest insurance broker and risk manager in the world, headquartered in Itasca, with revenues in excess of $5 billion. Kay McCurdy chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee and Sherry Barrat, a Non-Resident TCN member, also serves on the board.
