HYATT HOTELS ON FORTUNE'S 100 BEST WORKPLACES FOR WOMEN LIST 
FORTUNE published their inaugural list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women and the Hyatt Hotels Corporation ( Rena Reiss (2011)) ranked #38 on the list. Rankings were determined by employee surveys and the representation of women within the organizations. Read more...

NINTH TALLEST BUILDING IN U.S. DESIGNED BY JEANNE GANG  
Chinese developer Wanda Vista is to build the ninth-tallest building in the US as part of the three-tower scheme designed by Jeanne Gang (2006), President and Principal, Studio Gang Architects. The tallest of the three glass towers will be 335m in height, and all three will contain 400 apartments and a hotel. Jeanne says the massing was inspired by nature - specifically a type of crystal formation called "frustum," which resembles a pyramid without a pointy peak. The interior will also be designed by Studio Gang, pictures are below:

KPMG MAKES SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO WOMENCORPORATEDIRECTORS
WomenCorporateDirectors (WCD), the largest global community of women corporate board directors with 3,500+ members serving on more than 7,000 boards around the world, is now the WomenCorporateDirectors Education and Development Foundation, Inc. (the WCD Foundation), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

To make this possible, U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG LLP (KPMG) (Kapila Anand (2010) and Kathy Hannan (2001)), purchased the assets of WCD and contributed them to the WCD Foundation. This contribution, along with increased pro-bono services to be provided by KPMG, marks an expansion for WCD and its capabilities.

KPMG's support of the WCD Foundation represents a continuation of KPMG's long-standing relationship with WCD in numerous areas, including chapter launches, global and regional Institutes, event programming, and thought leadership. KPMG partners and professionals have been active in providing support to WCD chapters in more than 60 cities. KPMG will become the Global Lead Sponsor of the WCD Foundation.

Susan Stautberg will remain Chairman and CEO of the WCD Foundation. The WCD Foundation will be based in West Palm Beach, FL.

TCN MEMBERS TO BE HONORED AT 2015 LA RABIDA GALA
On November 6, La Rabida Children's Hospital (Brenda Wolf (2012)) will present two TCN members with awards at the 2015 Gala Celebration of Friends at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel. Anne Pramaggiore (2008), President and CEO of ComED, will accept the ComEd Corporate Philanthropy Award, and Z. Scott (2012), Partner & Co-Chair of Kaye Scholer's Chicago White Collar Litigation and Internal Investigations Practice, will be presented with the hospital's Community Service Award. Read more... 
UIC INDUCTS TWO TCN MEMBERS TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP HALL OF FAME
At a gala event on October 8, the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, part of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago , will honor 20 local businesspeople, including TCN members Linda Boasmond (2015), President, Cedar Concepts Corporation, and Julie Smolyansky (2007), President & CEO, Lifeway Foods, Inc. The event, part of the institute's 30th anniversary celebration, will take place from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive. ELIZABETH HARRINGTON SERVES AS MEMBER OF THE DELEGATION OF PRESIDENT XI JINPING
Elizabeth Harrington (1982), North American Publisher of the Hurun Report, China's leading business magazine, was a member of the delegation of President Xi Jinping when he paid his first State visit to the U.S.. The delegation included top business leaders such as Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba, and Warren Buffet, Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. President Xi and Chinese business leaders reinforced their plans to invest in the U.S. and promoted U.S. investment in China. Boeing and Microsoft announced major deals in China. The delegation attended meetings in Seattle with business leaders including the Paulson Institute of Chicago, Washington at the White House, and New York at the UN.
CFW 30TH ANNIVERSARY LUNCHEON
On Tuesday, September 29, the Chicago Foundation for Women, led by President & CEO K. Sujata (2011), held its 30 th Anniversary Luncheon for a sold-out audience of 2,000 people. K. Sujata introduced the 100% Project, which is the result of conversations convened starting a year ago where CFW sought input throughout Chicagoland on the issues facing women and girls and what to take as a result. According to CFW, the 100% Project is an all-out, all-in, coordinated effort to increase women's economic security and put an end to gender bias in metropolitan Chicago by 2030.
 
Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel also spoke at the luncheon and Ashley Judd delivered the keynote address. In addition to K. Sujata, TCN members who addressed the crowd included CFW founder Sunny Fischer (2005), event co-chair Mary Dillon (2010), and member of CFW's board of directors Adela Cepeda (2005).
SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY APPOINTS TWO NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Board of Trustees has elected new members to serve three-year terms. The new members are Tasha Henderson, chief financial officer for Loop Capital Markets, and Luis Nuñez, founder of both lasotek and BioTarget.     
SAINT XAVIER ALUMNA AND ESPY AWARD WINNER HONORED WITH 2015 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD  
Danielle Green ('08), Saint Xavier University (Christine Wiseman (2012)) alumna and 2015 Pat Tillman ESPY Award winner, visited the Chicago campus on Tuesday, September 22 to speak with student veterans. As an Army veteran and former South Side of Chicago resident, Green shared her experience in the military with SXU student veterans and discussed losing part of her left arm while serving in Iraq. Later that evening, Green was honored with the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award, as part of SXU's Homecoming celebration. Read more...

Chicago Architecture Foundation is excited to share the full list of participating sites for their fifth-annual Open House Chicago (OHC), the largest free architecture festival in the city. On October 17-18 , OHC will bring thousands of visitors behind the scenes of more than 200 of city's most widely treasured and little known spaces across 20 neighborhoods. CAF looks forward to hosting appreciators of architecture both locally and from around the world, and helping them experience Chicago in a way that they only can during Open House Chicago.
