SHARI RUNNER PIECE FEATURED IN  CHICAGO TRIBUNE
Ch icago Urban League President and CEO Shari Runner  wrote a piece,  published in the   Chicago Tribune,  entitled , " Chicagoans, it's time to demand a better life." 

"As a world-class city, Chicago has shown in many ways that it can deliver strategic solutions. Solving the complex problems on the South and West sides will make the city and the state better for everyone. Like every other major undertaking that has helped make our city great, it will not be cheap, and it will not be easy. It will require fierce political will matched by serious financial investment. LORI ANDREWS ON AMAZON WRISTBANDS
Lori Andrews, Distinguished Professor, Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago - Kent College of Law, was quoted in a Chicago Tribune article about Amazon, which is eyeing technology that could track the movements of its workers' hands as they fulfill orders.

"Employers are increasingly treating their employees like robots. Part of the problem is that workers rarely realize it. You might have trouble getting life insurance if they learn you bought a lot of Cheetos," said Lori Andrews. Read more...

BLYTHE J. MCGARVIE JOINS APPLE HOSPITALITY REIT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc. recently announced the appointment of Blythe J. McGarvie to its Board of Directors, effective February 21, 2018. Blythe will stand for election as a Board-recommended nominee at the 2018 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

"WOMEN-CEOS-SPEAK"
When roughly 94% of Fortune 1000 chief executive officers (CEOs) are men, what qualities drive the 6% who are women to the most elite reaches of corporate leadership?  To find out, the Korn Ferry Institute studied 57 women who have been CEO's - 38 currently and 19 previously - at Fortune 1000-listed companies and others of similar size. Korn Ferry (Tierney B. Remick) analyzed structured interviews with all 57 women and the results of psychometric assessments taken by two-thirds of them.  Among the key findings:
  • Few set out to be CEO
  • Starting out in STEM
  • No single path to the top
  • Seeking out challenge
  • Motivated by purpose and culture
  • A different mindset as CEO
Mary Dillon, CEO, Ulta Beauty, Inc., and Jennifer F. Scanlon, President and CEO, USG Corporation, were among the 57 female CEOs that participated in the study. To read the full report, click here
