OUTCOME HEALTH RAISES OVER $500 MILLION
Outcome Health ( Shradha Agarwal) has raised more than $500 million from investors, led by Goldman Sachs ( Tracey Benford), Pritzker Group Venture Capital and Google's  parent company, Alphabet ( Karen Sauder).

When the deal closes in a few weeks, it's expected to raise about $600 million and be valued at $5.5 billion or more, the highest for any Chicago venture-backed company in the past decade, according to PitchBook, a Seattle-based research firm. The only company to raise more money in a single round was Groupon, which landed $950 million in early 2011 at a $4.8 billion valuation, not long before it went public. Read more...

GOLI SHEIKHOLESLAMI ON BIG NEWS EXPANSION
Chicago Public Media CEO Goli Sheikholeslami was featured in a Crain's article about her plans to significantly boost the nonprofit news organization's WBEZ editorial staff over the next three years.

SHEDD AQUARIUM NOW AFFILIATED WITH SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE
The Shedd Aquarium ( Bridget Coughlin and Joyce Simon) is now officially affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and will be able to exchange ideas, professional research and information about new and current exhibitions.

"We are honored to be affiliated with the Smithsonian in our shared goals of increasing discovery and inspiring lifelong learning. This partnership is an incredible collaborative resource that will help us deliver more mission moments to more people with greater impact, both onsite and in our communities," said Shedd Aquarium President and CEO Bridget Coughlin.

Shedd Aquarium joins the Adler Planetarium ( Michelle Larson) and the DuSable Museum of African American History as the only organizations in Chicago to hold affiliate distinction. The Shedd is also one of only two accredited aquariums in the network, joining the Georgia Aquarium. Read more...
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle plans to seek a third term in office next year. The leader in Illinois' biggest county was first elected to the post in 2010. She has told Chicago radio stations that she'll run once more in 2018 for a four-year term. Toni Preckwinkle was a Chicago alderman for nearly two decades. She ran unopposed for the county board position in 2014. The county employs more than 20,000 workers and is home to one of the country's largest public health systems. Read more...

LINDA BOASMOND RECOGNIZED AMONG TOP LEADERS AND PROJECTS
Linda Boasmond, President, Cedar Concepts Corporation, has been announced as a winner of the 12th annual Emerald Awards for 2017 by the U.S. Green Building Council-Illinois (USGBC-Illinois). Linda was honored for creating green manufacturing jobs in a LEED certified factory and for exemplifying her environmental stewardship and commitment to her community by bringing jobs and sustainability to the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
