STUDIO GANG TO DESIGN ENORMOUS, ACOUSTICALLY-ATTUNED DOMES
Studio Gang Founder and Design Principal, Jeanne Gang, will install a human hive in the halls of the National Building Museum this summer. The installation, aptly named Hive, will anchor the D.C. museum's Summer Block Party, a series of temporary commissions inside its Great Hall.

CHICAGOLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PARTNER OF NEW NONPROFIT
Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is a partner of a new nonprofit organization, the Chicagoland Food and Beverage Network. With the help of $1 million in seed funding from the MacArthur Foundation ( Julia Stasch) and JPMorgan Chase ( Melissa L. Bean and Elizabeth H. Connelly) , the organization was formed last year with an eye toward bringing inclusive job growth to Chicago. NAVY PIER'S GREEN INITIATIVES
In honor of Earth Day - and planned 'March for Science' - Navy Pier's leadership has announced a number of sustainability improvements for the lakefront tourist destination.

Marilynn Gardner, President and CEO of Navy Pier, Inc, discussed Navy Pier's Centennial Vision master plan to reimagine the Pier as a contemporary, more efficient urban park space.

"We are honored to receive SITES certification from such a prestigious and highly regarded organization," said Marilynn Gardner. "Creating a model of sustainability for not only Chicago, but institutions around the world, was at the forefront of our minds as we embarked on the re-imagination of the Pier's public space." PROFESSOR MARTHA NUSSBAUM LECTURE, PANEL DISCUSSION AND INTERVIEW
Martha Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, gave a lecture and a panel discussion at King's College London on sexual violence and accountability in a culture of celebrity. Read more...

Kym Hubbard has beened appointed to Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO)'s board of directors, serving as an independent director. Kym is the former global head of investments, CIO and treasure for Ernst & Young. In her professional background she has worked for the state of Illinois, including as executive director of the Illinois Finance Authority. She has prior corporate and non-profit board experience. PIMCO is a global investment management firm with a singular focus on preserving and enhancing investors' assets. Read more...
JENNY NIEMANN NOMINATED TO STEELCASE AND ELECTED TO CAF BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jenny Niemann, President and CEO of Forward Space, an independent Steelcase dealership in Chicago, has been nominated for a seat on the Steelcase Inc. Board of Directors. Steelcase shareholders will vote to approve her election to the board at the annual shareholder meeting on July 12, 2017. ROBIN KELLY TO PRESENT BILLS TARGETING UNEMPLOYMENT IN AREAS WITH HIGH POVERTY RATES
Robin Kelly, United States Congress, will introduce two new pieces of legislation to expand and increase access to employment opportunities for at-risk youth. The Helping to Encourage Real Opportunity (HERO) for At-Risk Youth Act and the Creating Pathways for Youth Employment Act will increase federal resources for communities seeking to create or grow employment programs and provide tax incentives to businesses and employers to hire and retain youth from economically distressed areas.

"A few weeks ago, I hosted my 4th annual youth job expo. I saw hundreds of young people hungry for the opportunity to find a job and work. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough opportunities or our young people lack the needed skills to fill the positions. Taken together, these bills will help create jobs, and give young people the opportunity to succeed," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly. Read more...
