The Conservation Center ( Heather Becker) was featured in a New York Times article about the discovery of journals belonging to watercolorist Lilias Trotter, who devoted her life to charity and missionary work. UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER RECEIVES $35 MILLION DONATION 
A $35 million donation by Chicago energy magnate Michael Polsky will expand his namesake center at the University of Chicago , creating what the institution hopes will be a "one-stop shop" for startups in Chicago. The gift will unite the university's various arms aimed at fostering and commercializing innovative ideas under one roof at the University of Chicago's Polsky Center (Ellen Rudnick). Read more...

Andrea was asked to expand on her role of Chicago's Deputy Mayor at Morgan Park High School as the featured speaker for Career Day. "Keep a sense of humor, and don't be afraid to fail," Andrea Zopp told the students gathered for the assembly. She also reflected a bit on her run for U.S. Senate, as well as her days working as a lawyer. ADLER'S NEW SKY SHOW, "PLANET NINE"
With the new theater show "Planet Nine," Adler Planetarium looks at the history of Pluto and chronicles the search for a new ninth planet using both space imagery and simulations to demonstrate how we've learned about what lives beyond our solar system. "It's not about what we think but how we think," said Michelle Larson, the planetarium's president and CEO. "That's the goal of the museum now." Read more...

Lois Scott, President of Epoch Advisors, has been elected to the Chicago Stock Exchange's corporate board for a three-year term to expire in 2019.

BARB KLEIN REELECTED TO NATIONAL COUNCIL ON COMPENSATION INSURANCE
Barb Klein has been reelected to the board of the National Council on Compensation Insurance. This private company is the nation's most experienced provider of workers compensation information, tools and services. It gathers data, analyzes industry trends, and prepares objective insurance rate and loss cost recommendations. Barb previously served on the board from 2009 until 2015.

SOPHIA SHAW TO BE ADJUNCT PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR OF BOARD FELLOWS PROGRAM
Sophia Shaw, Managing Partner at Acorn Advisors, is now Faculty Director of the Kellogg Board Fellows Program and Adjunct Professor of Social Impact at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. For the past 9 years, Sophia was President and CEO of the Chicago Botanic Garden. A Kellogg graduate, she has been a popular guest speaker in KBF classes on board governance and is well versed with the program and its mission. Sophia was personally recruited to this position by Dean Sally Blount.
LIBBET RICHTER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE GUILD OF THE CHICAGO HISTORY MUSEUM 
Elizabeth "Libbet" Richter (The Richter Group) has been elected President of the Guild of the Chicago History Museum (formerly the Chicago Historical Society). Founded in 1949, the Guild was established to "further public interest in the Chicago Historical Society and promote the general activities of the Society." Today the Guild continues its educational mission while raising funds to support such projects at the Digital Photography Studio, the North Cafe Complex and the interactive Guild Gallery, in addition to such individual exhibits as "The 1968 Exhibit," and "Chicago Authored."
STEPHANIE PACE MARSHALL NAMED CHANCELLOR OF LINCOLN ACADEMY 
Internationally recognized educator Stephanie Pace Marshall has been installed as the Chancellor of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois, the organization that annually bestows the state's highest honor, The Order of Lincoln. Stephanie, a past recipient of the honor, becomes the first woman to lead the Lincoln Academy in its 52-year history. "A society is often judged by what and who it chooses to honor. Through the Lincoln Academy, Illinois has chosen to honor those whose life's work has made us all better and moved humanity forward," Stephanie Marshall said. BETH HARRIS ACCEPTS ROLE AS INTERM LEADER OF LABORATORY SCHOOLS
Beth Harris will become Interim Director of the Laboratory Schools starting July 1. Beth has worked for the University of Chicago for 30 years, serving as Vice President and General Counsel for 13 of those. Among her many roles, she played a leadership role in oversight of complex organizations including the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and Argonne National Laboratory. Her ties to the Laboratory Schools are deep and longstanding. She was responsible for oversight of the Schools from 2002 to 2008, serving on its Board from 2002 through 2015. In addition to her role as legal counsel to the Schools, she has been closely involved in most of the initiatives it has undertaken during that period, including the decision to expand the schools and undertake the campus renovation and construction.

MARSHA SERLIN NAMED CEO OF THE YEAR 
Marsha Serlin of United Scrap Metal was named CEO of the Year at the 2016 Platts Global Metals Awards, held in London on May 19. Hosted by S&P Global Platts, a leading global energy, metals and commodities information provider, the annual awards program honors exemplary performance in fifteen categories spanning the entire steel, metals and mining complex. Metals and steel industry executives from around the globe attended the 2016 black-tie awards ceremony at the Marriott Grosvenor Square in central London. Winners in fifteen performance categories received honors on stage, having been selected by an independent panel of judges.
JULIE SMOLYANSKY ACCEPTS COMMUNITY LEADERS AWARD 
Julie Smolyansky, President & CEO of Lifeway Foods, Inc. was honored with Fifth Third Bank's Community Leaders Award.

DANA ANDERSON TO HEADLINE RESET AGENDA IN SYDNEY
The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has announced senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Mondelēz International, Dana Anderson, will join the Reset stage in Sydney on October 25. Dana Anderson is currently redefining the future of marketing at global snacking powerhouse Mondelēz International through her wisdom, wit and will. Dana is the reigning Woman of the Year (AWNY), was the 2014 Advertising Person of the Year (Ad Club of New York), and is on the board of the Assn. of National Advertisers, and the Twitter Influence Council.
MICHELLE SEITZ NAMED A TOP WOMAN IN ASSET MANAGEMENT 
Michelle Seitz, head of William Blair Investment Management, has been named a "top woman in asset management" by Money Management Executive. All of the women selected in this year's Money Management Executive's Top Women in Asset Management Awards are bona fide leaders and innovators, actively seeking solutions to the market, regulatory and operational challenges facing firms," writes Money Management Executive. TONI PRECKWINKLE DELIVERED COMMENCEMENT SPEECH AT HARPER COLLEGE 
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle touched on needing to rise above failure in her commencement address at Harper College in Palatine. "In life, there's very little that can be accomplished without collaboration and cooperation," Toni Preckwinkle said. "And that definitely can be said for public service."
DIANE AIGOTTI TO SPEAK AT CRAIN'S CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER BREAKFAST 
On Tuesday, June 7, Crain's Chicago Business is hosting a CFO Breakfast, "CFOs Evolving Role as Trusted Advisor."  Diane Aigotti, EVP, Managing Director & CFO, Ryan Specialty Group, LLC, will be a featured panel speaker. She will share stories of how her role has expanded and thoughts on the vastly more complex and higher role of CEO.
URBANWORKS FEATURED IN "50 DESIGNERS, 50 IDEAS, 50 WARDS" EXHIBIT
An ambitious new exhibition features 50 transformative proposals for building a better Chicago, presented by 50 of the city's top architecture and design firms. Designers studied all elements of our city seeking inspiration and answers about how we might enhance present conditions. UrbanWorks (Patricia Saldana Natke) proposed a bold master plan speculation to improve the quality of life for residents of the 25th ward, which includes Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. Also featured are Ross Barney Architects (Carol Ross Barney) and Studio Gang (Jeanne Gang). The exhibit was curated by Martin Felsen, Sarah Dunn and Reed Kroloff under the leadership of TCN member and CEO of the CAF (Lynn Osmund). The exhibit is now open and located in the CAF's Atrium Gallery at 224 S. Michigan Avenue.
