FREE, EPIC ART COLLABORATION FEATURING JEANNE GANG HEADED TO NAVY PIER THIS FALL
Navy Pier ( Marilynn Gardner and  Michelle T. Boone) , Chicago's mission-driven cultural district, has commissioned world-renowned contemporary artist Nick Cave and international architect and MacArthur Fellow Jeanne Gang for Here Hear Chicago, a new site-specific project that incorporates art, design and performance. 

"The Here Hear Chicago project is exactly the type of work that is furthering the Pier's mission of becoming a leading cultural destination, locally and globally, as more and more guests are starting to turn to Chicago's lakefront treasure for free, dynamic and eclectic experiences," said Navy Pier Chief Programming and Civic Engagement Officer Michelle T. THE SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO CLOSES IN ON $50 MILLION FUNDRAISING GOAL
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, is closing in on a $50 million goal in its first-ever major public fundraising campaign, Beautiful/Work: The Campaign for SAIC

SAIC President Elissa Tenny and Chancellor Walter Massey publicly announced the campaign one year ago. The effort has now raised $46.4 million, providing increased scholarship opportunities, faculty support and programming.

"For more than 150 years, School of the Art Institute of Chicago students, faculty and alumni have made groundbreaking contributions to art, design, and scholarly pursuits, and the early success of the Beautiful/Work campaign reaffirms our commitment to educating the cultural and creative leaders of tomorrow," said Elissa Tenny. PATRICIA BROWN HOLMES ANNOUNCES INDICTMENTS IN LAQUAN MCDONALD CASE
Patricia Brown Holmes , special prosecutor assigned to the Laquan McDonald case, announced the indictment of three Chicago police officers on charges of conspiracy, obstruction and misconduct in the October 2014 slaying of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.

"The indictment makes clear that these defendants did more than merely obey an unofficial 'code of silence,'" Patricia Brown Holmes said, "rather it alleges that they lied about what occurred to prevent independent criminal investigators from learning the truth."  Read more...
LINDA JOJO ON MOBILE TRANSFORMATION, INNOVATION, HIRING, AND LEADERSHIP
United Airlines Executive Vice President, Technology, and Chief Digital Officer Linda Jojo , who recently won the Super Global CIO of the Year award from the Chicago CIO Leadership Association, participated in an interview with The Enterprisers Project . In the interview, Linda shared more about United Airlines' mobile transformation and her thoughts on innovation, hiring, and leadership.

"It's important to do a great job in the job you have. But if you aspire to do something different, make sure that those responsible for the hiring and making those decisions know what you're interested in. LURIE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL NAMED TOP CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago ( Kary McIlwain and  Michelle Stephenson) is one of four Illinois hospitals ranked among U.S. News & World Report's top children's hospitals in the nation.  Lurie was also named to U.S. News' Best Children's Honor Roll, which includes 10 hospitals nationwide with the highest scores across 10 medical specialties . Lurie also came in at No. 3 in a separate ranking specifically for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, and No. 4 in urology.  Read more...

STEPHANIE IZARD NAMED BEST CHEF
Stephanie Izard, Executive Chef & Owner of Boka Restaurant Group,  was recognized o n the   Chicago Reader's  "Best of Chicago 2017: Food & Drink" list as  "Best Chef." The list results are based on a poll of readers. Stephanie's restaurant Girl & the Goat was also recognized as "Best Fancy Restaurant."

NILA LEISEROWITZ ON TECHNOLOGY INFUSION
Nila Leiserowitz, Managing Principal, Gensler, spoke during a breakout session on "Technology Infusion with Engineering and Construction" at Deloitte's ( Deborah L. DeHaas, Janet Foutty and Stacy Janiak) National Engineering and Construction Conference. Nila focused on how the driverless car and other technologies will have a major impact on how we live, work, and play.
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle recently announced a partnership with leaders from Dane County, Wisconsin to join "We Are Still In," a coalition of governmental and institutional leaders dedicated to keeping America's promise of mitigating climate change by meeting the Paris Climate Agreement.
