UnitedHealthcare Drops Montefiore from Network
|
As of January 1, 2021, Montefiore Health System has been dropped from United’s network (including Oxford), impacting countless employers and their employees in our region.
United has enjoyed record profits during the last 9 months while Montefiore and other providers have been hard due to the costs and impacts of the pandemic. This decision impacts your in-network benefits at all of the following providers: Montefiore Medical Center, Montefiore Mount Vernon, Montefiore New Rochelle, Montefiore Nyack, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, White Plains Hospital and all of their employed providers.

An orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has performed the first augmented reality (AR) knee replacement in the United States. The new technology was designed and engineered with artificial intelligence and machine learning.The augmented reality knee replacement platform, known as NextAR, received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July. It allows for ultraprecise alignment and positioning of the knee implant. Read More Here.

In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Memorial Sloan Kettering joined forces with the Chinese Thoracic Oncology Group (CTONG) — an alliance of more than 30 premier academic cancer centers in China — in an effort to establish a program of clinical trials that are open to patients from both the U.S. and China. The collaboration, is designed to build the academic foundation for multicenter US-China clinical trials, with the ultimate goal of boosting enrollment in clinical trials so that effective new therapies can be developed and approved faster for patients in need.
