Update from Project Overcome :: New Hire!
WCA and its partners have been working hard since the official launch of Project Overcome, a federal grant funded by US Ignite. Our innovative Yonkers-based pilot (Y-Zone) creates a digital opportunity zone designed to provide a digital equity solution(s) for unserved and underserved residents in downtown Yonkers. (Read full program details here.)

Frantz Lucien, Jr. has joined the project team, taking on the critical role of Outreach & Community Engagement Coordinator. Frantz will be working with community members and stakeholders in Yonkers to lead adoption, enrollment, education and tech support efforts. He will be partnering with local agencies, non profits, schools, and others to reach households in need of this critical program.

Prior to joining this project, Frantz provided STEM education and programming for families throughout New York State for over 6 years. During his tenure, he managed five large scale programs for families living in transitional housing. These yearly programs provided STEM education, access and ownership to underserved families throughout NYC. His experience working with diverse populations coupled with his passion to empower underserved populations, makes Franz an excellent addition and qualified to spearhead all community efforts for the Y-Zone pilot.

Many in the business community believe the county’s economy has the fundamentals in place to stage a strong recovery as vaccines become more available and schools transition back to normal operations. “We are pretty resilient,” says Michael Romita, president and CEO of the White Plains-based Westchester County Association. “We have a pretty diverse economic ecosystem. It is not dependent on any single sector of the economy.” Click Here to View Full Article
