WCA's Healthcare Consortium Discusses
Challenges & Opportunities for Our Region
Key legislative advocacy updates, new HITE platform & growing bio-science sector
Members of the WCA Healthcare Consortium, comprised of representatives of world-class healthcare providers and others, recently gathered virtually to share insights and perspectives on the current healthcare environment in our region.

For more information on WCA's healthcare initiative, contact Amy Allen.
Key Takeaways:

  • Completing 2020 and gearing up for 2021, there will be a renewed focus on a “Community Reinvestment” plan for the for-profit managed care plans. The WCA plans to convene a sub-committee to work with HANYS and Suburban Alliance to develop a legislative action plan.

  • Greater NY Hospital Association gave a demonstration of their Health Information Tool for Empowerment (HITE) platform. It’s an excellent tool for finding community resources for many social services, including food assistance, Covid-19 testing sites and many other useful links for providers, patients and the general community and is updated regularly. More information here hitesite.org

  • Strategic consultants recently hired by the County determined that Westchester County represents 20% of the statewide life science employment and ranks within the top 10 in the sector in the entire U.S. The strategic plan also called for the establishment of an Engineering program in Westchester to help create a talent pipeline- something the WCA has long advocated for.
