WCA in Action!
WCA's Workforce Committee and Real Estate & Housing Task Force met virtually last week to kick off the new year. Both groups outlined their 2021 goals and objectives and set agendas for the Annual Regional Workforce Summit (April) and the Real Estate and Housing Summit (May) respectively.

WCA is keeping our members' most pressing issues top of mind as we continue to focus our efforts for the post-covid recovery period. Check out below two important resources that came from the hard work of these active committees.
WCA's Policy Playbook, written in partnership with the Land Use Law Center at Pace University, is a resource to design, validate and deploy land use policies and strategies to improve the planning, zoning, and approval process across the county. To help tackle the issue of affordable housing, WCA created a new chapter in 2020 of the Playbook. The Playbook directly addresses the housing crisis with specific policy recommendations, “how-to” guides, model zoning ordinances, best practices, and training and funding resources.
WCA's Employer Resource Guide is a 36-page resource guide to help employers and employees capitalize on the tremendous training and educational opportunities in our region. Right in our backyard, there are opportunities for on-campus and online courses for certifications and degrees. This guide also includes information about our area’s support services such as childcare, transportation, housing and healthcare.
New Yorkers for 5G Praise Governor Cuomo's
Telehealth Expansion Proposal
New Yorkers for 5G, a statewide coalition that the WCA is a member of, has recently hailed Governor Andrew Cuomo’s announcement that he will propose legislation to improve access to telehealth in his 2021 State of the State address. It is critical to improving the health of all New Yorkers – but especially those in historically underserved and rural communities – that roadblocks preventing access to this important healthcare tool be removed. The Governor’s plan will go a long way toward achieving that goal. Read More Here.
