Help Is Available For Employers With Job Openings
Governor Hochul recently announced a statewide initiative to help connect jobseekers to employers and fill almost 400,000 jobs. Click here for initiative info., including significant no-cost resources for businesses. New statewide and regional labor market reports are also available. WCA has increased its focus on workforce development and the jobs recovery. Our Workforce Committee addresses recruitment and retention challenges and opportunities. The Talent Council is looking at ways to alleviate the nursing shortage and will be issuing a report soon. The Talent Consortium brings together colleges, career centers, nonprofits, employers and state agencies to share info. on job opportunities, resources and recruitment events. We have also launched sector roundtables to create talent pipelines between colleges and employers. And, we’re applying for major job training and placement grants. Lastly, planning is underway for our 3rd Annual Workforce Summit in March 2022.

Our Short-Stay Rehab Center Again Named Among Best in Nation Huge news! For the fourth year in a row, we have been recognized with the highest rating possible for our short-stay rehabilitation facility for 2021-2022 by U.S. News & World Report. Of the 13,500 facilities evaluated, just 1,651 earned the coveted “High Performing” rating. That places United Hebrew’s short-stay facility among the top 12% in the nation.

NEWS! LEADERSHIP CHANGE AT WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT CENTER ANNOUNCED Nikki Hahn to Become the Organization’s New CEO, Effective January 1, 2022
Nikki A. Hahn, MPA, a Scarsdale resident, has been named as the next CEO of the Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC), an award-winning organization serving Westchester and the Hudson Valley, helping women achieve economic self sufficiency and financial stability through business ownership and entrepreneurship. For the past three years, Ms. Hahn has served as WEDC’s Director of Development and Strategic Initiatives. She will take the reins as CEO on January 1, 2022, replacing Anne M. Janiak, who will continue on with WEDC as a special advisor on an as-needed basis, and remain as executive director of the Westchester Municipal Officials Association.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY (November 23, 2021) – As part of the County’s commitment to growing the local advanced manufacturing industry and ensuring companies have access to qualified local talent, The Westchester County Office of Economic Development and Westchester Community College are pleased to announce a career training program for advanced manufacturing. The program, which will launch January 2022, puts individuals with little or no prior manufacturing experience on the path to a highly skilled, well-paying and in-demand career.
