Heroes Beyond the Badge Award Winner, Cst. Nolan Di Diomete

Congratulations to Constable Nolan Di Diomete, the May winner of the Heroes Beyond the Badge award!

Most people run away from danger, but not Constable Di Diomete. When he saw a fast-traveling plume of dark smoke moving across the highway, he raced toward the cries for help and was able to save the lives of residents living in an encampment of wooden cabins. We are so grateful and honoured to have such a courageous hero representing the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

Thank you, Constable Di Diomete for helping make the Waterloo Region community a safer place.
Waterloo Regional Police Services Board Selects Search Firm to Conduct a Search for Chief of Police

On May 18, 2022, the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board announced that it has selected an executive search firm to support the recruitment of a new Chief of Police for the Police Service.

Boyden Canada, a global talent and leadership advisory firm, was hired to conduct a nation-wide search after current Chief Bryan Larkin announced his retirement last month. His last day with the Waterloo Regional Police Service will be July 3, 2022.

“The selection of a new Chief of Police is critical and we are confident Boyden Canada will identify candidates that will reflect the goals and values we expect from our police service,” said Board Chair Karen Redman.

The Police Services Board also announced that Staff Superintendent John Goodman has been appointed Acting Chief of Police, effective July 4, 2022. Staff Superintendent Goodman will hold the interim position until a permanent Chief of Police is appointed.
