The Waterloo Regional Police Service is reminding the community to make safety a priority as students and school staff head back to the classroom.
As part of our annual Walk the Chalk event, we're encouraging parents and children to take time on the days leading up to school to go outside and write safety messages along school routes with chalk.
Students will then read these messages as they walk to school on the first day, which will help encourage safe walking and biking.
We are also encouraging parents, caregivers and children to take part in our Safety Ambassador Campaign by sending us a drawing or video of their back-to-school safety message.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all children. Together with parents, caregivers, and our community partners, we can help make safety a top priority throughout the school year.
