BCCMB Updates
Long Term Pricing Cost Recovery Model Update
Following the resignation of Mr. Randy Williamson , the Board has appointed Harvey Sasaki as Project Manager of the BCCMB Pricing Cost Recovery Model project. Harvey will recluse himself from board decisions relating to this topic.

Update on Avian Influenza in BC
The Chilliwack Primary Control Zone (PCZ) has moved to a ‘security zone’. 
There are four active primary control zones of non-commerical poultry flocks on Vancouver island (North Cowichan, Cowichan Valley, Capital District and Saanich.) A small flock in Langley Township tested positive on October 12, and is classified as 'non-commercial, non-poultry’, meaning there will NOT be a PCZ set up, nor will it require permits.
Thank you to all growers for your continued dilligence in practicing the highest level of biosecurity during this risky time.

The BC Poultry Association encourages all chicken growers to get their annual flu shot. Read more here.
Biosecurity
Due to the high risk of avian flu the BC Poultry Association (BCPA) is recommending all growers continue to practice enhanced red level of bioscecurity.
Funding Opportunities
Extreme Weather Preparedness for Agriculture Program (OPEN NOW)
• Second intake will be open from October 4 to October 25, 2022
• Supports a variety of projects tackling wildfires, flooding and extreme heat.

Beneficial Management Practices (BMP) Program 
•Application dealine is October 27, 2022 for projects that help meet the goals of CleanBC and the Climate Preparedness Adaptation Strategy (CPAS)
• For 2022, eligible farm operations will be able to submit up to three project or equipment related applications per year. The existing lifetime cap of $70,000 for BMP projects will not apply for the CleanBC and CPAS funding.
• Applicants must have an approved and valid Environmental Farm Plan

Canada Egg and Poultry On-Farm Investment Program

There are approximately 85 BC chicken growers who have not yet registered for the Poultry and Egg On-Farm Investment Program (PEFIP) .
Chicken Farmers of Canada has ensured the delivery of the full and fair support that was promised by government following the signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on March 8, 2018, 

If you are not registered in the progtram, we mailed a printed guide in May and followed up with an email on September 26, 2022.
