On December 21, 2022 we officially say farewell to Harvey Sasaki as Chair and Bill Vanderspek as Vice Chair of the British Columbia Chicken Marketing Board (BCCMB). Harvey's term as Chair will end on December 20 and Bill has been appointed as Chair of the BC Broiler Hatching Egg Commission.
We thank Harvey and Bill for their dedication and extremely valuable service to our board.
Kevin Klippenstein has been appointed Chair of BCCMB . Kevin comes to us from the BC Turkey Marketing Board, where he has served as Chair since January 2018. Kevin grew up in Chilliwack, BC and studied Business Administration, Management and Operations at the University of the Fraser Valley. In addition to operating Klippers Organic Acres, Row Fourteen Restaurant, Klippers Guest Suites and Untangled Craft Cidery in Cawston, BC, Kevin and his wife Annamarie are board members of the Outstanding Young Farmers Program. They won for BC in 2011 and then continued to Nationals where they were recognized as Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2011. Kevin was a volunteer firefighter, past Chair of the Organic Farming Institute of BC, member of the Regional District of the Okanagan Similkameen’s Official Community Plan committee, and former board member of the Vancouver Farmers Markets.
Jim Collins has been appointed Director of BCCMB. Jim comes to us from the BC Broiler Hatching Egg Commission, where he served as Chair since January 2017 and as the independent director of the Island Vegetable Cooperative Association 2020-2022. Prior to that, Jim worked for the BC Farm Industry Review Board from 1991-2016 and was its Executive Director/Registrar and lead mediator from 2003 to 2016. While at BCFIRB, Jim also served as vice chair of the National Association of Agri-Food Supervisory Agencies and as a director of the BC Council of Administrative Tribunals. Before joining BCFIRB, Jim was employed in the federal civil service in the military communications and intelligence fields. Jim also served 25 years in the Canadian Forces (regular and reserve), retiring as a Signals major.
