Avian Influenza in BC
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been confirmed at two commercial poultry flocks in Abbotsford.

Permits are required to move any birds, eggs, poultry products and any material that has come in contact with domestic birds in Primary Control Zones where HPAI has been identified.

The allocation for Period A-178 (August 28, 2022 to October 22, 2022) was set by the Chicken Farmers of Canada Board of Directors on May 18, 2022 at 4.5 % above base as follows (in KG LIVE weight.)

4.5 % over base nationally yields 4.0 % to BC under the current CFC allocation agreement and the recovery agreement to eastern Canada for periods A-163 and A-164.

The pro-rata allotment for BC growers has been set at 102.54%.

Consultation on changes to rodenticide use
On July 21, 2021 the BC Minister of Environment and Climate Change issued an 18-month order banning the sale and use of second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). The ministry is seeking feedback until June 19, 2022 to proposed permanent changes to the Integrated Pest Management Regulation as it pertains to SGAR.
