Update on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in BC
All infected zones in the Fraser Valley have transitioned to security zones, which means that you only need a general permit (as opposed to a specific permit) for any movement. For more information, please check the Candian Food Inspection Agency's permit page here.
BC Chicken Growers' Association AGM
The BCCMB/BCCGA AGM is scheduled for March 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre 1000 Burrard Street, Vancouver BC. The AGM is FREE and you do not need to register for the conference to attend.

Other Agriculture News
Funding is available to employ youth aged 15-30 in agriculture. Employers can be entitled to receive up to $14,000 to cover 50-80% of the costs of each employee.

If your farm is a corporation or a partnership, and it owns residential property, you are likely required to file for the new federal Unused Housing tax. Farms businesses that do not file, could be fined $10,000 per home even if you do not owe any tax.
All growers are encouraged to reach out to your accountant or tax professional for advise on this new tax.
