New Buses Join Dixon's Readi-Ride Fleet

The City of Dixon has officially added four new Readi-Ride buses to its fleet, replacing aging vehicles to significantly boost safety, reliability and accessibility. Readi-Ride provides more than 40,000 rides each year, connecting residents and students to schools, appointments and shopping. The modern upgrades feature seating for up to 16 passengers, flexible configurations for wheelchairs and ADA-accessible lifts — ensuring our community enjoys dependable local transit for years to come.

The City of Dixon is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Randy Shafer as Fire Chief of the Dixon Fire Department, effective earlier this year. With over 20 years of dedicated service and progressive leadership within the department, Chief Shafer brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence to his new role.

Solano County Paramedic of the Year

Congratulations to Firefighter/Paramedic Jimmy Perry on being named the 2026 Solano County Paramedic Provider of the Year. Jimmy was recognized by the Solano County Board of Supervisors on May 12 for his exceptional service, leadership and commitment to patient care. Since joining the Dixon Fire Department in 2022, Jimmy has demonstrated outstanding professionalism and dedication to the community. A Solano County native and paramedic for approximately six years, Jimmy takes pride in making a positive difference in the lives of those he serves. We are proud to have him as a member of the Dixon Fire Department team.

Readi-Ride Registration for the 2026-27 School Year

Readi-Ride Registration for the 2026-27 School Year will take place on July 20 over the phone.

Parents, please note: Readi-Ride begins each school year with a new student registration process. This means that students who received transportation services during the 2025–26 school year are not automatically guaranteed a spot for the 2026–27 school year.

As in previous years, a lottery drawing will be conducted for all schools. If you require Readi-Ride service for the upcoming school year, you must re-register your child to be considered for transportation services.

Please be aware that space is extremely limited. The transportation fee is $40.00 for one-way service and $80.00 for round-trip service. Payment is required at the time of registration.
