CoPLL Collaborates on Annual Meeting Sessions
At this year’s Annual Meeting, CoPLL delivered a 2-part CME program, “Leading the Way to Health Equity,” a collaborative program between CoPLL, RLI, and the HR, Women and Diversity, and PFCC Commissions. CoPLL also supported the GSER, Economics, and Lung Cancer Screening Commissions and Committees with their CME sessions:
- Deciding What to Share in Shared Decision Making for Lung Cancer Screening
- VA Radiology: Innovation, Partnership, and Opportunity
- ACR Military Radiology's Battlelines: Field Hospitals, Cybersecurity, and the Crusade for Women's Health
- Hot Topics in Imaging Economics
These sessions will be available for CME on acr.org by the end of June.

Education Center Pivots to Meet Post-COVID Virtual Needs
The Education Center expanded its offerings to include a series of micro-courses covering a variety of specialties. Each micro-course begins with 1-week online access to pre-recorded lectures and cases for a self-paced deep dive on the most challenging topics in a chosen specialty. This is followed by a virtual 2-hour group case review and Q&A with faculty via Zoom along with 2 additional days to review the case content. All virtual micro-course participants can earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and SAM credits.

Radiology-TEACHES Seeks Health Equity Cases
At the end of 2020, Radiology-TEACHES announced a call for content for a special Health Equity module. Seeing the need for education on health equity and the reach of Radiology-TEACHES into medical schools and training programs, a decision was made to encourage submission of cases from students, trainees, and radiologists at all levels. Selected contributions were highlighted at the 2021 ACR Annual Meeting. Video summaries of these proposals can be viewed here.

AIRP Takes Correlation Courses Virtual
The AIRP completed its inaugural virtual Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation Courses, each of which included 4 weeks of live lectures delivered via Zoom. These courses consisted of synchronous and asynchronous presentations to over 300 attendees per course in 2020. This format has continued in 2021 with success. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in Categorical Course attendees.

Case in Point Holds Amazing Case Race
Created for the 3-day American Medical Student Association (AMSA) conference, the Amazing Case Race consisted of daily timed Case in Point (CiP) questions from a variety of cases. This initiative was designed to increase interest in CiP and radiology among medical students and included cases such as lead arthropathy (from a bullet), perforation of a heroin packet, vaping, and, of course, COVID-19. The students advanced on a trek across the country while answering questions (and helping colleagues). Starbucks gift cards were awarded to the daily winners with the most correct answers and fastest completion times.

Medical Student Virtual Escape Room is a Breakout Hit
The Medical Student Virtual Escape Room has successfully introduced radiology to medical students at institutions including Georgetown University, Florida Atlantic University, University of Kansas, University of Missouri, and Gettysburg Hospital. In the Escape Room experience, a team of players cooperatively discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks to complete a goal while learning about topics in radiology.

DXIT Offers Virtual Proctored Exams
The Diagnostic Radiology In-Training (DXIT) 2021 Exam offered registered residents the option to participate in virtual/remote proctored exams using ProProctor or at a physical Prometric Testing Center. In 2020, of the residents that completed the Prometric exam about half chose to use ProProctor.

ACR Bulletin Receives Professional Awards
The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), which celebrates the highest quality reporting, editing, and design in business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications, awarded the ACR Bulletin’s September 2020 health equity special issue with a regional Gold Award in the Special Section Category. The front cover of the November 2020 special issue on the community of radiology also received a regional Bronze award.

CME Compliance Corner
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the ACR are pleased to announce a new partnership that has increased the number and diversity of Section 3 activities available for Royal College Fellows and Maintenance of Certification participants. With this collaboration, eight accredited learning and assessment activities that meet the requirements of self-assessment programs have been added to the Royal College’s MAINPORT ePortfolio. The accredited activities are recognized through a credit recognition agreement signed on March 2, 2021 between the Royal College and the ACR.

Join the Movement to Cultivate a Culture of Well-Being in Radiology
The ACR’s Well-Being Committee invites health system leaders, department chairs, and practice leaders to submit an idea for a case study related to well-being in radiology. If you or someone you know has made a change in your department or practice to improve well-being, we would like to hear about it. ACR staff will interview interested individuals; those who reply will not be asked to submit written content. Final case studies will be published on the ACR website. Radiology-TEACHES and Appropriateness Criteria Share Appropriate Imaging Use
Earlier this year, Radiology-TEACHES collaborated with the Appropriateness Criteria (AC) team to incorporate videos/information from an introductory module on AC into the Radiology-TEACHES “Introduction to Radiology-TEACHES” module. The additional information will help medical students understand the methodology behind appropriate use criteria. The Introduction to AC module explains the process of how ACR develops AC documentation, and is a how-to guide for any resident, fellow, or radiologist who would like to participate in AC creation.

Case in Point Announces 2020 Case of the Year
Each year Case in Point editors select a case based on readership and feedback. The 2020 Case of the Year Winner was a case of small-bowel obstruction due to impacted food item (published August 28, 2020). The winning case was authored by Drs. Lara Hewett and Leslie Hirsig, both from the Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Radiology.

ACR Bulletin Discusses Health Equity in Special Issue
The Overcoming Barriers to Care April 2021 special issue of the ACR Bulletin discusses how overcoming racial, socioeconomic, and geographical barriers supports high-quality imaging care and vibrant practices. The pages of this special issue illuminate the many ways in which radiologists are taking action to ensure quality care for all members of their communities.
