The   Pace University Small Business Development Center   (SBDC) Director Andrew Flamm joined  New York SBDC s  network Director Brian Goldstein and his leadership team in Washington D.C., where they met  America's SBDC  network colleagues to share best practices and celebrate client successes from the nearly 1,000 SBDC locations nationwide. The highlight of the visit was attending the sixth annual  America’s SBDC Client Showcase , where Pace SBDC client  Geopipe   was selected as one of ten SBDC clients from throughout the nation to highlight their innovative suite of services.  Check out this blogpost   for more detail.
The Pace University SBDC co-hosted a  Small Business Lending Panel and Networking  session with the  SBA’s New York District Office . Held at Pace’s downtown campus, the event provided entrepreneurs with practical strategies for financing their business venture. Dean Neil Braun of Pace’s  Lubin School of Business also addressed the attendees, highlighting the focus on entrepreneurship in Pace’s programming.

The session included two panels of small business lenders comprised of traditional banks, and community-based and alternative lenders, each moderated by Beth Goldberg, District Director of the SBA’s New York District Office. The 15 participating lenders also met individually with entrepreneurs to assess prospective sources of capital.

StoolYoga  is a Brooklyn-based e-commerce shop that produces sustainable, bamboo products (e.g., meditation bench, cutlery set) that launched in 2017. The firm’s founder, Cristiano Imola, met with  Pace University's Small Business Development Center  (SBDC) Business Advisor Anish Thakkar, who helped him develop an online presence on Facebook and Instagram, launch an e-commerce website and social media advertising campaign, and map out his business expansion plan. With Anish’s guidance, Cristiano and his partner were able to effectively invest equity into the business to facilitate its growth, as well as create one new job.
