SPC Blessing Bags Ministry

SPC, working with LIFE Food Pantry, will continue providing Blessing Bags this school year. Every other week, children in the Loveland City Schools, who are food insecure, will receive a small bag of food to help them through the weekend.

You can make a significant impact with this mission project in two ways.

First, when you are out shopping for groceries, pick up something from the list below. Please only items on the list. Then place your donated items in the bin under the Serve Counter on Sunday morning or any time at your convenience. Collections will start the week of July 23rd.

Second, join us in the Fellowship Hall on the first Sunday of each month after church to help pack the Blessing Bags. Families are encouraged to serve

together!

Our first packing date will be Sunday, September 3.

Thank you for your help and support!

After a furious rally to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th inning, the Men’s Softball team ended up losing in extra innings to the first place West Chester Nazarene. The team’s record now stands at 4-5 with one more regular season game to play before the playoffs begin.

All games are played on Tuesdays at Corwin Nixon Park baseball fields in Mason and our schedule for the next week is:

Sycamore Presbyterian Church (11800 Mason Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249) will hold its 115th Lawn Fete on September 8 and 9 from 9am - 2pm rain or shine. Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/sycamorepc for more information.

What is a “fete” [feyt], you ask? (Def) noun A gala, bazaar, or similar entertainment, especially one held outdoors in aid of charity.

MAIN EVENTS: Both days consist of a HUGE garage sale with 1000’s of items including furniture, books, children’s toys, household goods/decor, jewelry, and everything else in between. Truly something for everyone!

There’s food to fuel your shopping and baked goods and treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. On Family Fun Saturday, we’ll take it up a notch and bring in family friendly entertainment. Get ready for touch-a-truck and a petting zoo! Plus, there will be free ice cream!!! (Check back for specific times).

MISSION/CHARITY: This year we will be supporting three local food pantries. Come find some hidden treasures, empty our shelves, and help fill those of the pantries. Be there!

How To Get Involved Now… DONATIONS! Clean out those closets, drawers, basements and garages to make way for the goodies you’ll buy this year. All items must be clean and in good, sellable condition— if you wouldn’t buy it, don’t bring it. Thank you for your cooperation.

BRING: furniture, toys, children’s items, books, sporting goods, kitchen and household items, home décor and jewelry.

Note: pick up may be available for certain items. Please contact Doug Gausmann at gausmannd@fuse.net

PLEASE DO NOT BRING: clothing, tires, tv’s, office furniture, large exercise equipment or entertainment centers. All items can be left under the covered porch attached to the storage garage.

On Saturday, August 5, SPC is scheduled to volunteer to help build the house located at 1315 Carolina Avenue in Bond Hill, 45237.

Workers must sign and submit a waiver-of-responsibility form (one form is good for the entire build season) prior to the start of the work day, and you can get that electronically from me ahead of time, or onsite on our work days. Contact me with any questions.

We are also scheduled to provide lunch for all the volunteer workers and need one or more volunteers to prepare a lunch and deliver it to the work site that day. Typically, there are 10-15 workers. The menu is completely up to you. Whatever you choose to bring will be greatly appreciated and most certainly will be enjoyed by all the volunteers scheduled to work that day!

Please let me know if you can help fulfill either of these obligations. Thank you.

The Barnhill family invites you to join them for a great day of fellowship and relaxation at the Majestic Springs Golf Club at 12:00 noon on September 16. You will also be supporting a great cause.

As many of you know, the net proceeds of this event fund the Kevin C. Barnhill Memorial Fund scholarships awarded annually to SPC graduating seniors. In addition, with the 2022 advent of an annual tuition endowment commitment to the PCEA Nanyuki Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, the impact of the Scholarship Fund has now gone international.

You may participate by golfing (no matter your skill level) or by sponsoring a hole. You may click one of the links below to print out a registration form or obtain information about sponsoring a hole:

The Barnhill Family, B.J., Will, and Bill, thank you for your consideration and know that they are blessed by your support.

Being an SPC Deacon is a privilege and a blessing. As Deacons, we are given the opportunity to know SPC church members and friends in a deeper way, serving alongside them and growing in the understanding of the burdens people carry and how the church can help. Think of your Deacons as the "caregivers" of the congregation, and feel free to reach out to your Deacon of the Month if you need someone with whom to pray, help with a meal, have questions about the church, or just need an empathetic ear. We have been called to serve and are here for you.
