Dear TS and TOS members and friends,
It was so wonderful to see so many of you at the 4th TOS International Conference in Singapore. Those there got to renew old bonds and meet new friends. We learned a few things, had fun and got some business accomplished as well. (See the conference report later in this newsletter). The TS World Congress that preceded our conference was full of interesting speakers, working groups, entertainment and some of the best food I've ever seen at such an event. The highlight for me was when Vic Hao Chin praised the TOS in his presentation calling the TOS "the most important existing avenue for applied theosophy for the public."
We are so excited about our new TOS Youth section. This issue of the TOS e-newsletter contains an article written by the President of the Tanzanian TOS youth group. She tells of her involvement in service work and her feelings about it, those the group serves and the elders who have helped them along. We want to make such articles a regular addition each quarter. Are you a
young TOS worker
? Is there a young TOS worker in your midst or a student you sponsor or work with whom you'd like to recognise? Please send us items written by or about a younger person in your group or with whom your group works. Remember to include their picture.
As always, we want to know what you and your groups are doing. Please send information about your activities with good quality photos, to: [email protected].
Yours in service
,

In many lodges and study centres, service tends to either not be discussed or may be done, but not mentioned in the work of the centre. As a way to highlight the importance of this “quiet” pillar, the Theosophical of Order in the USA (TOS-US) and the Theosophical Society in America (TSA) teamed up to offer ...

Welcome Helen Sztain-Quintana!
by David Sztain, Editor
|
After a long, 10-hour wait at the Peter Lougheed hospital in Calgary, Canada, we welcomed Helen Sztain-Quintana into this world at 11:56 pm, on June 7, 2018.
She came in with as much hair as Stella, her older sibling, who's turned 4 years old in July. Luckily both inherited that from Sushila's (my wife) family.

Theosophical Education - A New Impulse
|
... Madame Blavatsky said, “…Children should above all be taught self-reliance, love for all men, altruism, mutual charity, and more than anything else, to think and reason for themselves. ... We should aim at creating free men and women, free intellectually, free morally, unprejudiced in all respects, and above all things, unselfish.” These are lofty words, but lofty does not mean ...

"The work of the Theosophical Order of Service is Sacred. It was started to provide theosophical society members with a platform to put theosophical concepts into action, to make those principles concrete. Can there be anything more sacred? It is right action with love and respect, with compassion between the server and served. It is service to the living god within every being."
