Muskingum Valley Council Scouts and Scouters!
We know this is a challenging time for you, your families, and Scouting units. To keep you and your Scouts safe, we've postponed a number of Scouting events for the next few weeks. We are working to get events rescheduled and will keep you informed as new information is available. In the time being, we've attached some activities and service projects your Scouts can do from home!

***In consideration of the current health recommendations from the President of the United States, the Governor of Ohio and the CDC, we have decided to close the Scout Store and office to general business.***
MVSR closed at least through May 1st
With the ever-changing dynamic of the coronavirus pandemic, we have made the decision to temporarily close our camping facilities.

We are doing this out of an abundance of caution and to comply with governmental recommendations.

Units who had reservations during this time have already been contacted.

We appreciate everyone's understanding during this difficult time.
Spring Nut Sale extended
Scouts can earn the above patch by selling at least 5 items!
For those units participating in the Spring Nut Sale:

The sale dates remain the same, however, we ask that you do not gather your Scouts to collect the money. We suggest having each family individually drop their orders and payments with your Nut Sale chairperson. (We cannot delay the collection of orders, or the distribution of the nuts because we have chocolate covered nuts that could melt in warmer weather.)

For ordering:

Orders and money due by April 16th no later than 5pm

Please use this excel spreadsheet to place your final unit order: Nut Sale Unit Master Form

Please email the final order to amanda.wisniewski@scouting.org

Payments can be dropped off at the the Scouting Resource Center on Thursday, April 16th anytime 9am-5pm

More order forms: Nut Sale Order Form

Distribution: Friday April 24th - details to be forthcoming

Summer Camps
Camp Reassurance and Refund Policy
Muskingum Valley Scout Leaders,

Scouting is flexible, and resilient. Just look around the internet at the many creative examples of Scouting-at-home. It’s really been inspirational to see how committed our Scouting families are to continue their Scouting experience.
Most of all, Scouting is family! We are all in this together and now is the time we should all be reaching out to our Scouting friends. I love the virtual meetings I have seen. These give our Scouts the opportunity to interact with friends, continue on their Scouting trail, and for our Scouts BSA, to show leadership in the time of crisis.

I know there are many questions parents and leaders have right now. Everyone wants to know about our summer camping programs. Unfortunately, we do not know the course of this pandemic. There is always a chance that we will be unable to hold camp. Perhaps some parents will be reluctant to allow their Scout to attend camp. We understand the uncertainty. We can assure you that we are working hard to prepare for an awesome summer camping season. We are hopeful that the stay-at-home orders will be lifted in time for camp and we are committed to providing every Scout with an action-packed summer adventure!

We have already started considering ways to ensure the safety of our Scouts and leaders in light of Covid-19. We will be communicating with Cub Scout Leaders and Scoutmasters about this as we get closer to camp.

To ease worries that camps may not happen, or that you are uncomfortable attending, we are changing our refund policy this year. Scouts who are unable to attend will receive, full, hassle-free, refunds if they cancel at least 7 days prior to their scheduled camp. For now, we want everyone looking forward to an unforgettable summer camp program. We have extended the fee deadline for Scouts BSA summer camp to May 15th to allow more time for units to collect the fees. We are also working to expand the funds available for camperships to meet the needs of families who have been unable to work.
After being cooped-up at home, your Scouts will be ready for some adventure! Scout camp will be ready for your Scouts!

As always, thank you for what you do for your scouts!
