AnotherYearAnother Year in the Books!

Despite a smoky start to the Leavenworth General Membership Meeting weekend, there was record attendance! The weekend focused on building lifelong friendships through many different events. Feedback from the Membership was positive as always. From the treetop zip liners, to the sidewalk wine tasters, the greens of the golf course and the lazy river, our Members were able to use this weekend to recharge their batteries and visit with WSPMA Members. We thank each and every Vendor and Member that was able to share in this wonderful weekend.

If you have not yet had a chance to experience all that this meeting has to offer, you are encouraged to mark your calendar for next year -  August 22-24, 2019 at the Icicle Village Resort.

What is Retro?
Retro is a safety incentive program offered by L&I Industrial Insurance. In Retro you can earn a partial refund of your worker's compensation premiums, if you reduce workplace injuries and contain claim costs. Any employer with an L&I account in good standing can participate if they have a minimum $6,000 in annual premiums. Retro is simply another way of calculating your premium after the fact, or retrospectively.

Requirements of Retro Formation?
WSPMA would be required to create a safety policy and training for its Members. This policy is typically written in the Association Bylaws. WSPMA Members must have unified risk class for pest control 6602-08. Members may opt into the Retro program; however, formation of a group requires that enough Members enroll to achieve a $1.5M in L&I premiums as a collective. WSPMA would establish a committee to see and control all policies related to the program. WSPMA would maintain financial control over the Retro Refund Program. WSPMA would contract Third Party Administrator Stop Claims Corp to assist with formation, ongoing claim cost containment and maximize refund potential for the WSPMA Retro Group. Benefits of

WSPMA Retro to the Members?
Retro generates revenue to WSPMA for safety training, lobby efforts and premium refunds to its enrolled members. WSPMA Retro would assist in growing WSPMA's membership, to include pest control companies from out of state with WA state operations.  Smaller WSPMA members would not be excluded due to a $50K premium threshold that other Retro Groups maintain.  WSPMA would maintain control of this benefit versus outsourcing.

time_2_learn_vector.jpg
Every year the WSPMA office gets countless calls after license renewals are mailed. People are shocked when they find out they need more CEUs to maintain their license. We have decided to offer a Credit Crunch Day on Friday, November 30. Our Association will provide 3 two-hour courses that can be done individually or all together. This combined with the Fall Seminar on Saturday, December 1, will offer PCO the opportunity to obtain 13 credit hours in just 2 days.  Due to the complex registration we will not offer online payments.  More information will be coming in the next few weeks.
