Summer Camp 2023
Dear Parents,

Welcome to West Valley Christian School's Summer Camp! We are thrilled to have your child join us for a summer filled with fun, friendships, and new interests. Our camp is truly unique, offering an array of exciting activities and facilities that make us stand out from the rest.

One of our standout features is our impressive 9000 square foot air-conditioned gymnasium, 300 seat auditorium, grass sports field, outdoor basketball court, and shaded playground structures. We also have access to 20 classrooms, indoor and outdoor Gaga pits, Laser-tag, big ball volleyball, tetherball, and even water-field day! And that's not all - our campers also get to enjoy delicious lunch services, engaging STEM classes, culinary classes taught by a professional chef from Caesars Palace, video editing classes, film classes, and optional excursions.

But what truly sets us apart is our team of industry-trained professional teachers, experienced lead counselors, and camp leadership who are all employees of West Valley Christian School. Our philosophy revolves around providing your child with not just a fun and enjoyable summer, but also an opportunity to explore their interests and develop new skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Our themed sessions, such as Hollywood, Under The Sea, Western, and Science, offer a wide range of activities and experiences for your child to enjoy. From indoor and outdoor active play with access to exciting facilities, to engaging instruction in culinary arts, digital media, STEM, and art, our campers will have a well-rounded and enriching experience.

As partners in your child's growth and development, we also want to keep you involved in their camp experience. During our "closing activity" or "pick-up time," we encourage you to connect with your child's counselor and ask questions about their day. We will also provide you with questions to ask your child that align with your family values of teamwork, creativity, leadership, respect, and perseverance. We believe that open communication and engagement with your child's camp experience will further enhance their overall camp experience.

We are excited to embark on this summer adventure with your child and can't wait to see them thrive, make new friends, and discover new interests at West Valley Christian School's Summer Camp. Thank you for choosing us as your camp of choice, and we look forward to creating lasting memories together!

Best,
Derek Swales

Our Philosophy
Our summer camp philosophy is centered around providing an engaging and fun experience for kids to explore their interests and develop new skills while making friends. With themed sessions and access to amazing facilities and equipment, we ensure that your child will have an enriching camp experience. Our camp philosophy emphasizes active and creative play, hands-on learning and skill development through industry professional instructors in culinary and digital media, and we strive to partner with parents to instill family values and foster open communication about their child's camp experiences through intentional questions during our closing activities. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's growth and development at our camp.
FIVE CORE VALUES

Creativity - Encouraging imagination and exploration in arts and crafts, digital arts, and other creative activities.

Teamwork - Learning how to work together, communicate effectively, and support one another in group activities and games.

Leadership - Developing leadership skills by taking on responsibilities and working towards common goals.

Perseverance - Learning to overcome challenges and setbacks, and developing a positive attitude towards learning and growth.

Respect - Fostering respect for others, diversity, and the environment through various activities and group discussions.
Our Partnership with Parents and Counselors
As we strive to create a strong partnership between parents and counselors, we want to provide you with an opportunity to connect with your child's counselor and discuss their day at camp. We understand that you may have questions about how your child is developing values such as teamwork, creativity, leadership, respect, and perseverance, and we are here to help. During our "closing activity" or "pick-up time," we want to share with you questions that you can ask your child to foster discussions about their camp experiences and reinforce your family values.

Here are some questions that counselors can ask your child during camp to promote the development of these core values:

Creativity: What arts and crafts projects did you work on today? Did you try any new digital arts activities? Tell me about something you created today that you are proud of.

Teamwork: Did you participate in any group activities or games today? How did you work together with your team or group? Did you learn any new ways to communicate effectively with others?

Leadership: Did you take on any new responsibilities or helpful roles as a leader today? How did you contribute to the common goals of your group or team? Tell me about a time when you showed leadership skills at camp.

Perseverance: Did you face any challenges or setbacks today? How did you handle difficult situations or tasks? What did you learn from overcoming challenges at camp?

Respect: How did you show respect towards others today? Tell me about a situation where you demonstrated respect for others at camp.

We hope that these questions will help you engage in meaningful conversations with your child about their camp experiences and the values they are developing.

Here are some questions you can ask your child's counselor to learn more about your child's camp experience:
What was the highlight of my child's day today?
What new skills did my child learn?
Did my child work on any team-building or character traits today?
How did my child contribute to their group or team activity?
Is there anything I should know about my child's behavior or progress at camp?

We hope you find these questions helpful and that you continue to build strong relationships with your child through open communication and engagement with their camp experience. Thank you for choosing our camp and for entrusting us with your child's growth and development.
