It seems that every day brings a new scenario. New announcements are made and we have never read so many news and government bulletins.
We have all heard Doug Ford say private campgrounds may reopen on Saturday. This is only if they are "ready" to comply with the new public health measures and can still maintain the rules laid out in the Emergency Order Act.
This is tricky. We have been in constant communication with our health department, our district office & other district camp directors.
I have attached a letter from Pastor Lorrie Gibbons to the leaseholders of all our district camps outlining the camps re-opening.
We are in full agreement of the stipulations in the letter.
So, Braeside will be open 8am - 8pm beginning Saturday, May 16th
to enable preparation for the season and to allow access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have a full season contract."
Full stipulations are outlined in the letter.
If you decide to come out to Braeside this weekend we will be manning the front gate. You will receive a day parking pass for your vehicle and you will need to sign in and out when entering and leaving the camp.
You do need to be aware that no maintenance staff will be working this weekend to turn water on to cottages in the new section and deal with other issues that arise. ALSO, no public washrooms and common spaces are open at the camp. You need to be self-sufficient at your cottage/trailer.
We do believe that opening to leaseholders is the first step to being able to open for the season.
Just keep in mind the Ontario Government recommendations for gathering as of today is still to;
"Avoid visiting friends; no organized public events of more than five people indoors or outdoors (including in private dwellings)"
Pray with us that Stage 1 of our province's reopening goes well and we can move forward out of this pandemic.
